it very well could be that the 3 of the best teams in the league are all in ONE division.

I hope not. People would start posting here that the the second place AL East team should play in the world series against the first place team.

THEY ONLY LOST BY THREE!!! :cursing:

One of my all-time favorites hung up the cleats today, J.T. Snow.

He'll be working for the Giants in a bunch of roles including broadcasting, minor league coach, assistant to GM Brian Sabean, and spring training instructor. He'll also be a representative for the Giants for certain events.

J.T. is definitely the best defensive 1B I've ever seen. I'd love to actually get a chance to meet him someday.

It was pretty cool when he simultaneously crossed home plate and scooped up li'l Darren Baker during the 2002 World Series, thereby saving Dusty's son from certain doom.

Bravo, JT.

For the record, JT Snow is an Arizona Wildcat. To which I heartily proclaim ...

BEAR DOWN, ARIZONA!

I lived next to JT Snow's great Uncle and Aunt until they passed away a few years ago. no joke, they were very nice people.. they would throw all my baseball's back to me after i hit them over their fence.

Classy guy, great player. It was tough seeing J.T. leave last season. Long shot Hall of Famer, but definately a Giants HOFer. Three cheers for the Snowman.

I'm just we don't have to hear about his job search anymore. Plus, it's always good news when a division rival spends another $16M towards assembling an old-timers team. Giants suck.

Ya, all the talk this off-season from the Giants was that they were going to go younger blah blah blah.

I guess in San Fran going younger means going from a team full of 40s-somethings to a team of 30-somethings.

Orioles signed Jay Payton last night for 2 years and close to $10 million.

This deal doesn't really excite me too much. Payton just seems really average. Although its better than using the Newhan/Fahey option we used toward the end of last season. Any A's fans on here have an opinion on him?

You guys are getting a really solid, and very underrated player. Sad to see Payton go, but in all honesty Oakland just didnt have the room for him. Look to get a player whos pretty consistant at the plate, but who can struggle on defense at times.

Alright, thanks thats good to hear. I've been reading an Orioles message board and you would think the world is about to end. One stupid poster even said he was know going to become a yankee fan (not sure how a move that improves your team does that). But funny you say he struggles on defense at times, the few supporters (or at least people that accept it) of the deal are saying that it good because he will improve defense.

Also, just another note from the Sun article. The O's are still looking to trade for Marcus Thames of the Tigers. Basically all they need is a thrid team because they don't really have anything that fits the Tigers needs.

Overall I'm not too sure what to think of this offseason. Really all I'm hoping for is that we reach .500 even. I'll be happy with that even if its another 4th place finish. However one of the big things we needed was a clean-up hitter. I'm a big fan of pitching, and the Orioles have alot of good young ones (and a full spring training with Mazzone this year). So I feel we could get away with batting Tejada 4th and getting a decent 3rd hitter. But I don't really think we have one yet. Markakis could step up but I don't really want to rush him this early in his career.

Cubs reportedly sign Jason Marquis to a 3yr/$20 million deal.

Can you say overpaid? Don't get me wrong, I like Jason Marquis and he's a good pitcher if his attitude is in check but $20 million? Jeez Andy Pettite only got $16 million from the Boss.

These salaries are getting out of control.
