ESPN: Nolan, Del Rio get OK to wear suits

I like them, but can't Motorola design a smaller headset? Nolan looks ridiculous with that one on. I'd buy a Packer bluetooth headset, if I had the money.

I think they are so big, so they can drown out crowd noise making it easier to communicate with coaches, the quarterback, and other personal.. not to be captain obvious.

but yeah.. they are huge

I think that the NFL Shop is selling the blazers now. Here's the Patriots version complete with shirt and tie

Patriots Blazer, shirt, and tie

These look amazing by the way. Might have to get one myself for more formal outings

A Patriots blazer? Now that's something that will probably never see the field!

Their jackets are too big, cuffs too long, and please, Jack - don't button the bottom button. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the ties were clip-ons.

That is sharp. Very respectable. It would be awesome to see Herm switch to a suit.

I absolutely love it. Del Rio doesnt quite look as dignified, classy, and just overall bad ass as Nolan does, but hes a close second after tonight on my list of favorite coaches. I only wish Tampa was a bit cooler. Gruden would DIE in a day game at home. :P

Looks like the Jaguars' teal to me, with black and tan stripes.

Coincidence that the teams featuring suited coaches are a perfect 2-0? I hope Mora's getting fitted for a suit soon.....

It definitely looks like a Columbia/Carolina blue on my monitor. In the last picture where he's standing to the side, it looks like the Jaguars' teal...maybe it's just viewing the sateen from different angles.

Something I've never understood:

Basketball coaches pace and pace and pace, and holler and holler and holler, and sweat and sweat and sweat. And they look like they're dressed for business meetings.

Football coaches, on the other hand (especially the head coaches), are pretty solitary. And they wear sweats, or something similar to that.

Seems to me the basketball coaches should be dressed like football coaches, and vice versa.

The suits have to go.

Del Rio looked like he just came from a job interview. He looked like a fish out of water in that suit.

Do suits look good? Yes.

At weddings, interviews and important meetings.

I used to have to wear a suit to work everyday. I am so thankful "corporate casual" became the norm a decade ago.

No suits in football!

Must respectfully disagree. He looked like a pro, and so did Nolan on Sunday.

I hope McCarthy has a fitting scheduled.

Nolan obviously knows how to wear a suit. But Del Rio will learn. Jack, first rule: the bottom button is just for show. Guess I have to add a list to my "qualifications for manhood" test.... :P

these looked great to me, even if del rio looked less comfortable than nolan - i know nolan did this as a tribute to his father...does anyone know why del rio did it?

and on the difference between the game-worn and nfl shop sold items...it seems as though the nfl shop items are a different brand (unless colony sportswear is a division of reebok...which it may be)

Wow. That's a great catch.

These blazers and ties aren't new at all. Colony has been making them for a while (note the "featured in Super Bowl XL" plug):

They also make college and NBA trailored menswear.

So they're not the Reebok versions, but an existing licensed product. And in all fairness, the NFL isn't marketing them as being the ones worn by Nolan and Del Rio on the sideline. We just jumped to that conclusion (which may or may not have been the point).
