Dilbert Posted November 17, 2006 Share Posted November 17, 2006 Bombers Offer Buckeye Fans Discount November 16, 2006DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Bombers announced that fans who wear the scarlet and gray of The Ohio State University to Saturday?s game against Johnstown will be given a $2 discount on their ticket purchase. The team also announced that fans bold enough to don the maize and blue of the University of Michigan will be asked to pay an additional $2 at the door. The Bombers have moved the start time of their game to 8 p.m. so that fans can watch the Ohio State and Michigan football game. Genius marketing.Even though teams routinely give discounts to those who support one of the team's initiatives (in this case, support the Buckeyes), I've never heard of teams charging more for those in opposition to an initiative. It's win-win.Either no Michigan fan shows up, and this was all just free publicity and endearing to the local Ohio State fans, or else Michigan fans take this as an affront, show up en masse, and the team gets the publicity and sells a few extra tickets.
