kiwi_canadian
I think this may have been said around the time the NHL season started, but is it true that the Oilers will have a new look around Christmas time or was that just hot air floating around? I think this has been confirmed by various merchandise catalogs. The current third jersey will be disposed.

The logo is cool, but the deviation from the color scheme bugs the crap out of me. Who approved that? Anyway, I'll be thrilled to see the vintages on an alt basis. It's better than nothing. Heck, I would've been happy if NHL 2K7 could've thrown them in as alts or unlockables in regular play/franchise mode, instead of just with the all-time teams. Roger Clemente
I heard this third jersey switch was supposed to be effective as early as December 1st. So it may happen sooner than we think.--Roger "Time?" Clemente.
FlyersHockey1967
Which vintages are they wearing? And I just want to make sure, is it just going to be a vintage or is it a full fledged third jersey like what the Bruins and Canucks have done? Roger Clemente
It's the classic blue jersey with the orange shoulder panels. I imagine they'll do what Montreal, Boston and Vancouver did and use them as the official third jersey for the remainder of the season (without that V patch on the front). letterform
I read somewhere that it's supposed to be vintage with a twist. Whatever that means.

Blue one of course.

Also, the vintage blue replicas in stores now have the the CCM logo on the back of the neck (it looks ridiculous) and sleeve like Sabres vintage third replicas I've seen. westcoastoiler
This will be the last year of the Oilers 3rds, but they have dates to wear them well into the new year. There are 4 dates after New Year's with the Oilers wearing the vintage blues. Around the All Star break the Oilers will be unveiling new home/away jerseys for next season. The "vintage with a twist" is not completely true. Pat LaForge, President of the Oilers said that fans of the Oilers traditions won't be disappointed and that the new jerseys changes would be "substantial enough" so who knows? It's the only change I can think of that would be substantial enough for the average fan to notice, while not changing the major elements of the original jersey. youcan'tseeme
Let's hope this change is made! they need to bring more orange into their design again and what better way then with a vintage alt?
zig
Let's hope this change is made! they need to bring more orange into their design again and what better way then with a vintage alt?Yeah, I really like this move. I hate the current Oilers' third and I'm happy that they will be no more. The Oilers' need orange in there color scheme and hopefully this pushes them to use orange more. It's the classic blue jersey with the orange shoulder panels. I imagine they'll do what Montreal, Boston and Vancouver did and use them as the official third jersey for the remainder of the season (without that V patch on the front). This?Or this? Please wear the second one. The first one is ok but the second one is so much better looking.
leedsunited
Good move. Their current third was just a "Where the F__ did that come from" look, colors, logos, all. Paying tribute to the most successful incarnation of the franchise is never a bad move.
