NJTank
In 1940 the Bears beat the Redskins 73-0 in the NFL Championship, why was the score not higher? www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

bterreson
because in the later part of the game.. the offcials pleaded with the Kicker Geogre Halas not to kick extra points because they were running out of footballs that had been kicked through the uprights into the crowd Tumblr. Tazz013
No 2-point conversion in the NFL?The NFL had a two-point conversion then; the Bears went 1 for 2 on two point conversions in the game. The only thing that comes to mind was that most of the Bears starters were replaced after halftime. Save the slugalo.
youcan'tseeme
I agree with tazz that's the only logical thing that comes to mind. But i'm gonna take a stab at it and say the score wasn't higher cause the time elapsed ending the game.
slapshot
I heard somewhere that it was a revenge score for a previous game. The Redskins might have beaten the Bears 72-0 or 73-0 in one of the previous seasons. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016

PaperAirplane31
Three missed PATs and one failed 2-pt conversion. It should have been 78-0.because in the later part of the game.. the offcials pleaded with the Kicker Geogre Halas not to kick extra points because they were running out of footballs that had been kicked through the uprights into the crowdGeorge Halas was the Chicago head coach. WJMorris3
Three missed PATs and one failed 2-pt conversion. It should have been 78-0.No, should have been 77-0. That's not a two-point conversion... you had the option back then of kicking for 1 or running a play for 1. The two point conversion was not around until 1994.
