Blackhawks sign Bondra

The Chicago Blackhawks signed Peter Bondra for a 1 Year- $500, 000 contract with incentives. I think it is a great pick up for the 'Hawks with Havlat now back. They could be fighting for a playoff spot, should be a great rest of the season for Chicago. What do you guys think?

Chicago Blackhawks and Stanley Cup hockey aren't mutually exclusive. That's all I wanted to hear.

Only in the pre-Expansion era... ;)

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

I hope that one day, Bill Wirtz will "accidentally" be dropped into a barrel of dip, thereby revealing himself to be Judge Doom as he melts away into a poop-colored stain on the floor of the United Centre.

Go Hawks :)

So you are saying Bill Wirtz is the Worst

I think any sports owner who refuses to broadcast the home games on tv is the worst owner in sports.

He wants you to buy a ticket to see them at home. Not the wisest of moves, but I can see his reasoning.

Have fun with Bondra, Chicago.

I didn't really want the Blues to get Bondra because I'm tired of watching a team full of underachieving veterans (not that Bondra will necessarily underachieve mind you), but I wish the Blues would do something.

I support everyone on, in, and around the Blues, but the team sucks right now, so please do something.

We should be with if not ahead of the Hawks and Jackets, but they weren't satisfied with crap, so they got proactive and made some improvements.

Come on JD! Counter! I don't care if you fire Kitchen or cut half the team, just shake it up!

If it didn't come accross in that rant, I think this is a solid move for the Blackhawks. Playoffs might be a BIT lofty (though hell, my Blues are the worst team in the league and I haven't given up Playoff hope yet), but that organization seems to be trending up nicely in spite of their owner.

Here's hoping the Blues and 'Hawks can both trend back up and restore that rivalry that was once so great.

Doesn't the NFL actually have a rule that every game has to be sold out to be shown in the local market?

Not that that makes it okay for Wirtz to do it. He's in a far different situation and stupid for doing it in my opinion.

teach.gif The Blackhawks have 6 home games on tv this year. They are shown on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

Wirtz is the worst sports owner in the country, hands down, no exceptions.

Blackhawks and Stanley Cup mutual exclusive since 1961

That's nothing......... The Cubs and a World Series banner have been mutually exclusive since 1908... even then, I don't think they made a championship banner in those days :D

I saw, I came, I left.

How about an owner who won't broadcast games at all on television or radio... or an owner who does that AND declines government land and money for a new stadium... and then buys another franchise and take the entire coaching staff with him.
