Mingjai
Just posted these pics over at the BYU board--they're calling it the "Snot Rocket"If only BYU were still wearing these monstrosities: Visit my store on REDBUBBLE
BBTV
I'm going to admit that I like it. A lot. Especially with the black mask and chinstrap. I love tradition, but if not for teams like Oregon, tradition wouldn't be traditional. nyk
What is with Oregon trying to stand out from the rest of the college sport teams. Now I admit I like the basketball uniform...but the but the football uniforms like they about to go into space to battle aliens is too much and they know it. First the ridiculous uniform and now the helmet. Can't they try and be normal.
baseballking99
are the front bumper logos raised in this pic?I've never seen that before.
harperdc
I...ya....umm....wow.I'm a Duck. I've defended our uniforms (I like the font, I can see past the diamond plate, but I dislike the black creeping in in the two big sports). I bleed green and yellow and I'm hopeful we do well. But daaaaaayum...that's just too much. I can't approve of that. I just can't.they're messing with the one part of the uniform that should be sacrosanct - the dark green helmet with the yellow "O". It's beautiful, and should not be touched. Saturn
So I guess Oregon has got rid of all ties to the Ducks name now.
ShaftDu
i hate to say it, but cool design just wrong team. I was thinking of the Rhien Fire with them.
LMU
^ What Oregon should be wearing.Switch the black and the green on the jersey/pants, and that would be even better.
Frylock
Yeah, I'm a Beaver fan, but I've got to say that I kind of like these helmets. While I'm not anti gray facemasks, I certainly prefer the green one for this design. And while they're at it, leave the Nike-fied "O" off the helmet, too! rvrdgsfn
I swear, they must've gotten the father son team of american chopper for the helmet. Disgusting. But I guess it matches the "metal" look on their jersey
Schilly
I know I'm comparing it to a classic, but is the concept really that different from the University of Michigans helmets?
sc49erfan15
I've disliked Oregon and their uniforms for a while...but I keep paying attention to what they bring out next. It's like I'm rubbernecking - I can't stop looking at how bad it is.They've severed all ties with traditional..."tradition" for them is going to mean trotting out in something completely ugly, ridiculous, and different each season.2008? Clear, Saran-Wrap style jerseys - no, no, BUBBLE WRAP jerseys with inserts of plastic for numbers.2009? Cardboard jerseys, with firefly gut paint as neon numbers. (You know what I'm talking about.)2010? Suits of armor.2011? Loincloths.
leopard88
I know I'm comparing it to a classic, but is the concept really that different from the University of Michigans helmets?Actually, yes. The Michigan design (originated at Princeton, by the way) was the result of painting some of the panels on a certain style of leather helmet. They just elected to keep the design even after the leather helmets went the way of the dinosaur. This design has no connection whatsoever to the design or function of the helmet shell, so there is a significant difference.
