You know, when the head coach of the football program is helping to design the numeral font for his team's uniforms, it quite possible that style is being emphasized way too much over substance.

Word to the wise, guys. Let us dorks obsess about the uniforms. You all keep yourselves busy trying to figure out how to play football.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

and leave it to a UW fan/alum/student to rag on UO's unis...seriously? purple and gold? seriously? the argument makes itself.

at least we have everyone *around the nation* talking about our school and football team...

Sorry, but purple and gold looks 100 times better then green and Piss Yellow, pal.

green and yellow are wonderful colors that actually go together; purple and yellow huskies? no such thing even exists... :P take a look at my location and realize you're being wound up. no offense to the university, just the athletic department. I can't wait for our basketball team to play yours, the matchups this year are going to be *epic*.

Has anyone noticed on the Oregon official website what is on the cover of their media guide? Check it out. I thought it was funny.

I'm going to be critical -

Oregon is more worried about what they look like than what they do on the field - the "new" everything they've done is out of trying to be different - that don't win football games.

IMO - as a coach and lover of logos/unis, they need to design something 'cool and simple' and focus on football instead of all this "chicken:censored:." But again that my opinion - Duck fans are great and this is not to slam the program, they need to get back to winning.

I'm going to step out on a limb here, but the feeling I've gotten from reading this thread is that most Ducks fans dislike the unis to varying degrees (ambivalent to outright hate), but they could possibly help recruiting of non-student athletes.

I was wondering if the escalating uniform craziness could be related to the slippage in the team's play by way of the types of players they recruit. It seems to me like the "lunchpail" type of players that are more intersted in going out, doing their job on the field, and working for the good of the team might, if anything, be turned off by the Nike wack job, whereas flashy prima donna players who care about themselves and their appearance more than anything else would be attracted by them.

If recent fooball history has taught us anything, teams composed primarily of the first type of player generally overachieve and have success, whereas teams comprised of the latter type of player won't win as much as they should, no matter their overall talent level. I haven't watched any Oregon games this season, but for anyone that has, could this thinking be along the right lines?

oh ,my god ,i strong recommend you to have a visit on the website ,or if i'm the president ,i would have an barceque with the anthor of the articel .

no, the uniforms are only a portion of a feeling of entitlement that our program has...whether rightfully earned or not, we feel like we should be at the top of the Pac-10 now, and while we've shown flashes of talent to back it up (2005, the start of this year) we've also gotten far too comfortable too soon, especially Bellotti. The coach has let the team get too lackadaisical.

its just a sign of too contented a program. I hate to say it, but we need to shake things up, and not just the unis. *sigh*.

and, yes, those media guides are....kinda weird. chock full 'o good info, though.
