ebod39
stopped by the local Marshalls this evening and found three brand new reebok replicas still with tags, Vikings Culpepper/purple, Vikings Burleson/purple and a Lions black Harrington. All were $10 each..
totc
Place this in in the oddities section: Not too long ago I was at Value City and saw a beauty. It was an authentic Timberwolves black jersey complete with stiched lettering, but there was one glaring catch: it was spelled "Tiberwolves." No lie! I just laughed and moved on. I didn't take a picture of it with my phone but I should have, I kick myself for that one. It was only for a few bucks too. The bad ones are always the best ones.I've seen a Washington Nationals' road jersey with the word WASNINGTON on the front. The location: a Finish Line store at the Potomac Mills shopping mall in Woodbridge, Va.Marshalls and TJ Maxx are definately places to check out for jerseys...Yeah, but in many places in this country, A.J. Wright pwns both Marshall's and TJ Maxx. Of course, it also helps that all three are owned by the same corporation.
sacker12
I think that I am really going to check out both T.J. Maxx and Marshall's in Montgomery some time soon.
FiddySicks
Bought An Authentic Royals BP Jersey at TJ Maxx for 7.99 the year after they changed!Hell yeah man. Hanks was my favorite player when I was little. I was devastated the day the Niners cut him loose. Accually, thats pretty much the last day I had any fandom for the Niners. After they let Gooseneck go it just kinda lost its appeal.Im still kinda bummed accually. I gave that jersey along with my Seattle Mariners replica Ken Griffey Jr. jersey and an old South Tahoe All Stars jersey to my cousin about six years ago. Other than the All Star jersey, I still wish I had those back. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) DG_ThenNowForever
Is it just me, or is an entire generation of Americans under the false presumption that TJ Maxx and Marshalls are "thrift stores"? That kind of makes me sad...Of course, in Seattle, there aren't thrift stores. There are recycled clothing stores featuring name-brand t-shirts for $20 and Diesel jeans for $50. The point? I don't know either. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

VitaminD
The Marshall's and TJ Maxxxxx in my area are overflowing with Bobby Abreu and Jim Thome Phillies jerseys. 99% replica, but I have seen at least one authentic of each (or at least authentic numbers.)If they're truly authentic Phillies jerseys, it's the embroidery on the front that matters. Many places are realizing that the Phillies do not, in fact, use standard block numbers. But the Phillies are one of 3 teams that I can think of (Astros, Cardinals) who don't use tackle-twill embroidery on the fronts. They use the thick chain-stitch style that feels like the varsity letter you were given in high school. They sell them at CBP, and in a few stores that sweat the details, but most people spend good money on an "authentic" that is anything but. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17. Barticus
I was in New York City in July of 2005 and went into Modell's in Manhattan one day. Lots of Mets gear and reasonably priced too...Replica white Mets jersey with blue pinstripes, no numbers, protwilll Mets wordmark on front - $35.Not too much Yankees gear though as the Yankee store is right across the street. Also got a replica Islanders jersey there...protwill #s on back and sleeves for Yashin for $20. I think it's because it was an Isles jersey in Ranger land...in July, but I chalk it up to being on the wrong rack. There were others there though (Rangers, Atlanta Flames). I took the Isles and told the manager I was buying it for 20...he looked a little distressed which made me think it was on the wrong rack. Next day they were all gone...either purchased or moved to proper pricing. Did a happy dance on the street though when I walked out. OUT

That kind of makes me sad...Does it really matter? I don't understand why that would make you sad...First, Scrim is right. A deal is a deal. But I think the larger point is that yes, Marshall's is a place to get a deal, but it's getting a deal on corporate rejects; corporate stuff that was approved by some manager somewhere to be released at deep discount. That's not a thrift store. A thrift store, to me at least, is a place for donated/neglected clothing sold at an extremely deep discount, wherein most of the stuff is total and complete crap. You can hunt through TJ Maxx and find a nice shirt for $15 and be done in half an hour, but you can find all sorts of crazy, exciting stuff at your garden variety Salvation Army, etc, that you could never find at a chain. It makes me sad because I think we lose our individuality when a "thrift shop" in Omaha sells the exact same stuff as a "thrift shop" in Miami. It's the brave new world, but I think it's too bad. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
timparry
Best deal I got at a thrift store was a set of jerseys from the NPSL's Denver Thunder. $5 each, game-worn, and disposed most-likely by the league, which I believe was HQ'd in the same town. Sold them all on eBay for a range of $60-$80. I think there were 8 or 9 jerseys total. Now I go to that Goodwill store (Westport, CT, and there's nothing there. I think the workers pick and choose what they want for themselves before things go on the floor.Funniest thing I saw in an A.J. Wright, clearanced to $5, was an authentic CCM Islanders post-fish sticks jersey that I think may have been worn to the rink a few times. It looked like someone pulled a fast one - returning heavily-damaged merchandise to get a new jersey. I couldn't even get $5 for it on eBay! BlueSky
Just want to say thanks. It's been a good couple of years since I kicked myself in the a** for passing on an authentic Texas Rangers "script" style jersey I saw for $35 the year after they changed the wordmark to the current look. This thread got me kicking my own a** all over again! On the bright side, at the same store I bought an almost-authentic white Saints Sam Mills jersey (authentic cut and materials but no name plate & a gold "state" logo instead of black on the sleeves) and an authentic black Saints Renaldo Turnbull (#97, no nameplate) for $35 each. Lee.
two weekends ago, I found me a University of Arizona baseball jersey, navy blue (this is the road one? alternate? I have no idea if they wear road greys or not), stitched-on everything, for $3.99 Canadian. And it's not thrift store, but a month or so ago I picked up a University of Miami jersey and a VT jersey, both with the dreaded "orange sleeve," at Champs for $9.99 each, marked down from $80-something. OHLArenaGuide
Sorry (well, not really) to keep resurrecting this thread, but I just wanted to brag about picking up (on lunch yesterday) a current Leafs white in like-new condition for $25 and an FC Barcelona with Edgar Davids on the back for $5. They also had a mid-90s yellow Millwall FC shirt for a dollar (!), but it didn't fit me.

CC97
My latest purchase was a Road Leafs jersey, size L, with BELFOUR 20 on the back in the real fonts for $29.But I have definitely found some gems in the past -- Moncton Alpines QMJHL jersey for $2, Blue Jays 1989-1996 home and road (but small) jerseys for $3 each, among the many... my favourite is probably a 1980s home St. Catharines/Newmarket Saints AHL jersey... super rare. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram
Frenchie
For those of you close enough to "The Center of the Universe" (a.k.a. T-Dot), Salvation Army's Thrift Store Bloor Street West, West of Dufferin (before the HofL) has 2 Vintage fully numbered Gretzky oilers in the window. Haven't gone in, nor walked close enough to see what "weight" thay are, nor if it's for sale or just to display, but they do stand out from the street!!! @Frenchie_TO Owner of the Rochester Americans of the MLH Owner of the Toronto Frenchies of the GCFHL6
