slightly shotgunned
i just saw on pti that chris webber will be a free agent at the end of the season. first, is there any truth to this and second, where would you like to see him end up? scoobytim
The Sixers and C-Webb were working on a buy out of his contract it was expected to be completed sometime today. If this does happen Webber becomes a F.A. now.According to the reports in the local papers here Webber would be giving back about $5mil. of the balance owed to him over the remained of the contract which expires after next season. BBTV
Including the money for this season, he's going to get roughly $37 million to just go away.I can't blame the player, but I'll say the system sucks, and (more importantly) Billy King sucks. Of course Comcast can just charge everyone a dollar more for cable to afford this. dfwabel
This just proves the danger and potential of not recovering from microfracture surgery. The same can be said for Mashburn. I am suprised on the recovery of Amare from such an operation.

What does this have to do with the lottery? The NBA has a lottery for the first pick in the draft every year. People have suggested that Philly is tanking the season, especially after the AI trade, in the hopes of scoring the 1st pick in the lottery and by extension Greg Oden. BBTV
Have you seen them play? Even with AI and Webber? They didn't have to try to tank it, they just plain sucked. They didn't have a choice with either player - AI needed to go, and Webber is borderline cripple and wanted out. They did the best they could to work for the future. They would have been in contention for a top lottery pick regardless of what happened. If anything, the moves had more to do with getting cap flexibility than a better draft pick. dfwabel
C-Web was always overrated now hes washed up too I cant imagine who he could help.Personally, I think it is somewhat harsh to call a career 21/10 guy "overrated" in his 14 year career. Sorry those numbers don't live up to your expectationsNow, even though he was the Rookie of the Year, he was out of position with GSW, playing center. Overall, his best years were with the Kings when Vlade played the pviot, but came up against Shaq, Kobe and Phil Jackson. This is a description of the procedure that he, Penny Hardaway, Mashburn, and even Jason Kidd have gone under (credit: NIH)http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007255.htmLook at the risks. Only Kidd and for now Amare have been able to return to past performance. Your explosiveness is gone. Kenyon Martin is having the same procedure for the second time, this time on his right knee. So please call him "overrated PLUS", since he has had a broken leg as well.

FiddySicks
So is C Web instantly a free agent, and could potentially go to another team at any time, including this season, or is this for the end of the season? kingroadz
according to the nba website he will be officially waived on thursday, and from i gather he can with another team almost instantly. the paper work was completed on wednesday, and c-web, in my opinion, is better off. with no c-web, or the answer, maybe iguodala will finally be the focal point he deserves to be. whitedawg22
i hope webber gets a ring. Why? I can't think of almost anyone else in the NBA more undeserving. A poster child for everything wrong with the sport.Do explain. Webber has always been a team player, and you can't blame him for unreasonable expectations, bloated contracts, and injuries. While he's never been a great defender, in his heyday with the Kings he was the rare star that was comfortable setting up teammates out of the post and did the dirty work. His biggest flaw is that he never had a go-to move other than the 15-foot jump shot, and as a result, he wasn't the best player to take the last shot, thus propagating the idea that he wasn't "clutch". While the overall level of athletic giftedness isn't comparable, you could say the same thing about KG, yet it doesn't diminish HIS accomplishments.Furthermore, Webber is the rare NBA star that is well-spoken and considerate. Other than the Ed Martin incident, he hasn't been in any serious legal trouble (assault, guns, etc.). He's no A.C. Green, but I don't think it's fair to say that he's "a poster child for everything that's wrong with the sport." oh ,my god ,i strong recommend you to have a visit on the website ,or if i'm the president ,i would have an barceque with the anthor of the articel . Take a look at that 2001 76ers roster and tell me where that team was at without Allen Iverson. That teams out of contention by the all-star break, certainly not sniffing the playoffs and sure as hell not in the NBA Finals. George Lynch, Eric Snow, Aaron Mckie, Matt Geiger, Tyrone Hill... all featured players on that team.
