ericcartman19
I was wondering how does ESPN change the jersey of a player on a picture right when he is traded? Do they use photoshop?
Audiodrama
It's either PS or a prog very similar to it...they did a behind-the-scenes episode of SC some years back when they actually showed all the different color schemes and stuff they had already premade for that very situation. Gothamite
Yep, it's photoshop. Remeber the cheap airbrushing they used to do on baseball cards? And they had months to do that.... The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
Blackjack76
It's actually much easier to take the cap "off" of a current player's portrait, erase the face and the background, and place it on the newly-acquired player. Obviously, you'd want to look for a cap that looked the same (like Randy Johnson's high-crown cap is identical to Brian Barden's picture...I know this because I just did this same exercise for one of my clients). This (hopefully) avoids the Hank Aaron/Brewers pee-poor airbrushing. Now the trick with the Diamondbacks this year is the new home cap. That is a bit more delicate to switch in (again, while trying to avoid the ugly airbrushing).Photoshop definitely makes this much, much easier.
