First check your Illustrator > Preferences and make sure all your blacks are being viewed and output as rich black. If that doesn't help, make sure you're working in RGB, and use an RGB black for images you're posting on the web, because sometimes the Process Black or 100% CMYK black come out dark gray on RGB images or when you convert a CMYK image to a .pdf file.

thanks, i've tried all that, like i said it's fine in illustrator 10 but cs seems to dull the colors. We even had a color expert by the name of David Hunter here at our work and he could not fix it.
