slapshot
Belated holiday greetings everyone!!!I just finished watching the Hawai'i Bowl tonight between Hawai'i and Houston (and subsequent fight with one player hitting another with his helmet in his hand!)Reebok makes Hawai'i's uniforms. For a company lately known for its inconsistency, does it surprise anyone here to see that the lettering on Hawai'i's nameplates is in 3 different fonts? Some players have Eurostile Extended, some have the same but squeezed in (horizontally scaled) and others have Helvetica Condensed (these are guesses, I didn't get good looks at a lot of the jerseys). The last time I saw football teams with multiple tyefaces for different players' nameplates (not counting the occasional replacement shirt maybe) was the Buffalo Bills of the early 90s. Has anyone else noticed this in a Division I school or pro team uin any sport lately? Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
shiznit1083
Yeah it bugs me pretty bad. Have you also noticed the inconsistency on the braid pattern on the pants, helmet, and shirt. All 3 are different and it drives me nuts. Another things is where the hell did that metallic green on the helmet come from??? If it was black then fine, it would match, but that just looks bad. If they fixed it up they would have one of my favorite unis, but those inconsistencies keep me from really liking it.
Chazberg
I've also been wondering why the stripes are only on the left side of the jersey and pants, is it some Hawaiian thing? And imo there were WAY too many shots of the Hawai'i mascot. charles-noerenberg.com
gosioux76
For a team called the "Rainbow Warriors" -- if that's what they're still called -- they're certainly lacking in color. Not that i dislike the current color scheme, but it's not exactly representative of rainbows.
NJTank
They dropped Rainbow a few years ago becuase of its gay conotation. Supposidly there was a gay group also calling itslef the Rainbow Warriors and that didnt sit well with the Athletic department so they became just the Warriors. A good move I'd say.I thoght Hawaii's mascot was hilarious. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
yh
I have the same complaint with these uniforms that I have with the Eagles'. I love the helmet - it's a great shade of green and the logo is awesome. However it gets lost/washed-out with the all-black jersey and pant combo. If they'd go with green jerseys and white pants I think it would be a great improvement. That being said, I still like the uniform but not as much as I could. All i ask is that they break out their green jerseys when they're on National TV, ever since they changed to these jerseys all they wear when ESPN comes to the Islands is black. only time i ever see the green is when I use UH in NCAA 2004 on a slightly related note, the other UH involved, Houston...how bout dem cheerleaders! ::on another related note, how bout Mike Singletary's nephew...never seen a coach with his face painted til last night edit: only the football team is 'Warriors.' the rest of the men's teams at Hawaii remain 'Rainbow Warriors.' CDunn
I've been looking for jersey, pants, and helmet pics to see the difference, but I can't find any that clearly show a difference. Could someone do a mock up to show each of the three patterns?
quantum
The Warriors uniforms are great. My only problem is that I would prefer white numbers trimmed in green on the black jerseys.
