This is the first time I've seen it on the New Era website since months ago when they changed the website's format. The caption says:"The low profile edition of the official on field cap has arrived. This low crown fitted 59FIFTY has the teams logo embroidered on the front. The MLB logo is on the back."If they sell a polyester version of these, I'll be happy buying the new ones. My complaint about the polyester cap is that you cannot break down the crown as easily as wool. Of course, a low profile would eliminate the need for this practicality. However, the Hat Shack in Montgomery said that they will not be marking down the wool MLB game 5950's even when the new ones come in because it is still an authentic game hat. I wear glasses, and the BP caps left this tunnel over the glasses that light would just pour in. Made one of my pairs of prescription shades worthless. I like a little bit of curve, so the cap fits my head, but not caps where the two sides of the brim are almost touching.As to stickers and tags: as soon as I'm sure I'm keeping the cap, the stickers go in the trash...all of 'em. If people are leaving the other sticker on, you know these same people will leave the larger one on. I'm not sure why, but they think it's cool.I think it goes along with the "thug life" philosophy that New Era has embraced. - the flat brim- the size sticker left onIt looks like it was stolen. And, just look at the other lines of "thug life" styles they have.I was looking at the New Era site yesterday and saw where they now have paisley sweatbands that can be folded down...ala wearing a "do rag" under the cap without actually wearing the "do rag". I am not sure if they make different color paisley sweatbands (red or blue) yet. It makes me proud that MLB is associated with such a fine, wholesome company.The stereotypes and assumptions about the people who wear this stuff are disgusting.BTW, masking the n-word with "thug" won't make what you're saying any less racist. Trying to accuse someone Black of being racist is akin to accusing someone poor who talks s**t on wealthy businessmen of being a classist.Prejudice, on the other hand, is about one person and their thoughts. Anyone can be prejudiced.But I wouldn't expect anyone who outright dismisses someone as a "thug" simply because they adapt cultural styles they don't understand to understand this either. sigma716 Posted March 9, 2007 Share Posted March 9, 2007 friend of mine works for new era, gave me one of the new sox poly hats ( not the bp, the actual game style) and as for right now, i dont like it.... its not comfortable, it seems like there might be too much material, and it doesnt seem to take a curve the way i like my hats to...ive only had it for a day, so i may grow to like it, but as for now, im going out and buying a few of the wool ones, before they are gone just in case.
