Plus, her head is roughly the size of a Mazda 3.

Does anyone else not mind the rink-stick logo that the Nucks use on the shoulders of the current set? If they weren't already leaning towards the blue-green color set, I'd suggest that, m'self.

1) how many of you were alive when the Canucks used the rink logo? and 2) if an expansion team were to begin play in the NHL in 2007 and the stick/rink was going to be their crest, how viciously would that concept be torn to shreds? It's awfully conceptual to be a good logo, and strikes me as fairly uninspiring while not being as creative as people say it is ("It's a hidden C! OMG it's like the ball & glove it's so :censored: creative!!").

Your second argument is garbage, you could say that about any traditional team - Yankees, Packers, Bears, Cubs - would fans welcome any of those logos if they were created today? The point is that over time a logo becomes an icon, a visual symbol that becomes an indelible part of a team's identity, regardless of how creative or clever or cutting edge it may be. In fact, the logos I mentioned above are all among the most beloved in sports, and they're all extremely simple, not very "creative" as you would say.

Now I'm not old enough to remember the Canucks in the blue and green either, but I can appreciate the uniform's beauty in its simplicity. The stick and rink logo is completely stripped down to the bear minimum, and it's tremendous. It's extremely recognizable and IMHO a great identity for that team. The flying skate wasn't bad, but those colors said "German National Team" to me, not "majestic Canadian landscape". And as people have mentioned, the orca whale, while a decent and creative logo, is corporate-driven and the scheme uses waaaay too many colors. Not to mention the jerseys look black on the ice anyway.

If my second argument is garbage, your response is utter excrement.

Your point is that logos become iconic over time. I agree. But all of the logos you mention have been around for decades and have gone essentially unchanged. The stick and rink was worn for the team's first 10 seasons. The Canucks used the flying skate logo for 17 seasons, and this marks the 10th year of the orca. So how is a logo that was used for less than 1/3 of the team's history - in fact the 10 seasons least remembered by most fans and least covered by media (at least as we're used to it today, with 24/7/365 saturation) - iconic? The team's best years were the years of the flying skate; the greatest degree of media coverage occurred in the years of the orca. If you're even considering placing the stick and rink anywhere near the iconic logos you mentioned in the start of your response, I'm going to have to ask for a urine sample. Not only is the stick and rink not iconic, it makes no ties to the city of Vancouver whatsoever; the logos you mentioned may be boring as hell but as monograms, at least you can identify which city the team is representing. Not so with the rink.

How is a stick and a rink a great identity for any team? It's a great identity for hockey, sure. but every team plays on a rink, and every player uses a stick. It does nothing to identify this particular hockey team, especially with no other identifying marks to accompany it.

I am cool with the color scheme, even if it does call the Whalers to mind more often than the Canucks. Something with Johnny Canuck in green and blue would be a great move. But let's not get all maudlin about a blander-than-bland logo that the team used for 30% of its existence.

"Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

She is short, has tyrannosaurus arms and therefore has to lean over to reach things quite frequently. This combined with the fact that she doesn't seem to own a top cut above her cleavage smacks of gimmick to me. Thusly I am not impressed.

You're complaining about seeing her cleavage?

I've always thought Giada was pretty hot. When I showed my friends her show though, they weren't at all impressed. I was kinda shocked.

But anyways, blue and green belongs to the Whalers and we gotta keep it available for their eventual return. Right?

an honest president will be elected before the whalers make a return to the NHL.

same for the nords, north stars and jets.

the nucks need an indentity and stick with it and stop changing because corporate office is bored with how the team looks. pick a scheme, pick a logo; stick with it. maybe modernize it every 15-20 years if need be. other than that , stop changing color schemes, logos, and what not.

Just to help cause more of a ruckus--

The Vancouver Sun ran a picture of the white jersey with letterform's logo on it in their sports section today, and the drive-home personalities on Team 1040, Dave Pratt and Don Taylor, were ejaculating all over the guy who posted the jersey concepts on the Canucks site. In fact, they complimented him on the logo design, and gave him some free tickets.

Letterform, if I were you, I'd start raising some :censored:. Some ham n egger in Vancouver is profiting from your design (which was, granted, a slightly modified JC), and although I tried calling in to get you some props, the damage has been done.

I can't believe it. I also heard the interview on Pratt and Taylor with the guy who posted the concept, and what a joke. I sent them an email already telling them about the real creator of the logo, but that probably won't do much use.

If I wanted a picture of something with long hair and a beard that could cook, I'd use a picture of my ex-mother in law.

As it is, how old is that pic of Mario? The man's gunt is certainly larger than that now, unless foodtv somehow managed to create a convincing photoshop of him.

Interesting fun fact: Minutes after this picture, Mario had oral relations with that fish. Twice.

LOL! Well I can now officially cross off the word 'gunt' and the phrase 'oral relations' from my list of words I never expected to read on a uniform discussion board. Very funny stuff!

That being said. Someone on another board a while back was talking about how certain cities and regions have almost predetermined color palette for the logos and jerseys for the particular team in that region. For example: Washington with Red White and Blue, Florida with Bright colors like teal, orange and green and they mentioned the Northwest with Blues, Greens and Silvers. I don't know if I agree with that completely but I understand what they were saying. Does anyone think that the use of Blue and Green by the Canucks (should they choose to use that color palette) would fall into the 'too obvious' category?

the canucks is about to be buffasluged. :D

since this is RBK i expect a slug like version of a johnny canuck logo and weird ass striping up and down the jerseys all the while saying we're going back to green, blue, white.

do you trust in big RBK? :therock:

Ah yes...can't wait for the "Stylized Charging Johnny Canuck" logo...

Please email me @ info@sabresnotslugs.com if you hate the look

You have my total support. However, I hope it works out for Vancouver fans and the majority are happy with the new look.
