tBBP
That's what I was thinking.Though, how does Carney fare on kickoffs?Good call, you're right. Carney hasn't handled the kickoffs and last year they had to use a roster spot on a kickoff specialist.Updated: Well, that's that... Saints Release CarneyCarney issued a statement through the New Orleans newspaper:"To the Faithful of New Orleans: My time of wearing the Fleur de Lis has come to a close. For six seasons, I have been blessed and privileged to represent the most faithful, loyal fans that the NFL has to offer. This was never so evident than during this magical season of 2006. Monday night football will never reach the pitch and purpose it met on the night of September 25th. I leave New Orleans a far better man, looking for a team in need of a wrinkled foot, sure to soon be missing great friends of the South, with the knowledge that my taste buds will always yearn for one more Drago's charbroiled oyster! Best wishes and Godspeed, John Carney"Wow, what a class act. Thanks and good luck, John.Damn...he said all that?Yeah...that's sho' NUFF some class right there! And he seems as if he genuinely enjoyed kicking in the NO. Which is cool. Look--NO is (or was, and will be again very soon and really still kinda is), without doubt, one of, if not THE most unique cities in the U.S. The culture, the environment--it's like you develop a whole new spirit down there. I miss that place so much. Haven't been back down there since right after Katrina and prior to that, it was a whole 3 years.Well...on ANOTHER note, David Carr officially inked himself into being Jake Delhomme's backup in Charlotte this year and next.Oh--and Asante Samuel's bitchin' about the franchise tag again. What is going on in NE this offseason? Picking up all these players (although dude from Baltimore was the catch of the offseason thus far), players publicly moaning and groaning, Bill Belichick probably STILL grumpin around in them cutoff sweaters...ah, who knows? Certainly not me.My Bucs signed exactly ONE exciting player of note so far: Cato June. (I will now retreat and silently--no, LOUDLY--pray that Calvin Johnson falls to us...PLEASE, DEAR GOD, CAN WE GET CAL?) *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
Brendan
Im suprised Carr signed with the Panthers as a backup instead of going to a place like Oakland and being a starter, I dont blame him though for not going to Oakland
tBBP
In yet another move no one may care about (except perhaps the flameofatlanta), JOEY HARRINGTON has just inked himself into a backup spot with the Atlanta Falcons for the next two years.Hmm...boy boy boy boy boy...what to say about that move?Thoughts... *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
TFoA
Of all the backup QBs, we sign a guy who has failed twice. D'oh.One thing's for sure: There will be no QB controversy here, because the guy who's gonna end up backing up Vick is a frickin failure. Hell, DJ Shockley might even end up beating out Harrington for the #2 spot (it's a stretch, but it could very well happen.)So yeah, I don't like it, because at the moment it seems we signed someone who's not gonna be able to be trusted when it comes to being the backup. Hopefully it'll pan out though, stranger things have happened in the NFL.
whitedawg22
Open question - is there a QB in the NFL who is less like Vick, by almost any measure, than Joey Harrington? Maybe Drew Bledsoe, but that's about all I can think of. oh ,my god ,i strong recommend you to have a visit on the website ,or if i'm the president ,i would have an barceque with the anthor of the articel . tBBP
Though it's already been posted; I'll say it again: Al Wilson is done in Denver.Oh, and speaking of players who are done, so is Drew Bledsoe. For good. *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
TFoA
Well, the game passed Drew by. If you're gonna be a QB in the NFL, you have to be somewhat mobile. I think everybody on this board will agree that if someone got past his line, he was going down, no attempt to run or evade or anything. Today's NFL, you've got to be somewhat mobile. Hell, even Peyton Manning and Tom Brady can run if they have to. Bledsoe couldn't, so he's done the right thing and got on out of the way.I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. tBBP
...And now the Buccaneers, my Bucs, are set to release 10-year vet and LB stalwart Shelton Quarles. Not that I ain't see this one coming (the guy's 35 YEARS OLD), but still...Dude was so good for so long with them boys...even though I know times comes for every man, I'm still a lil' sad to see him go.In other news...[anger release]DO NOT TAKE CALVIN JOHNSON MATT! HedleyLamarr
[anger release]DO NOT TAKE CALVIN JOHNSON MATT! JUST DON'T DO IT!!![/anger release...for now..]It'll be interesting to see what happens on Draft Day. There's word Oakland would take him. There's word that Detroit is looking to deal the 2nd pick to any team drafting 3rd-10th (and the Falcons are rumored to be involved in a deal with Detroit). Cleveland might take him, now that they have a decent RB.

Epiphanic
It's not a free-agent deal, but I think it's related enough.http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6890434Miami strikes again with a Joey Harrington type deal. This time they send a 5th round pick (potentially 4th) to Kansas City for Trent Green.Honestly, I don't have a feeling one way or another. Green is much better than Culpepper, but now they have 4 QBs. Obviously the guy they drafted isn't going anywhere, so either Culpepper or Harrington is the odd man out. Personally, I hope it's Culpepper. "In the arena of logic, I fight unarmed."I tweet & tumble.
Thad
Let's say the Dolphins dump Culpepper....should the Falcons then pick up Culpepper as a backup and dump Harrington/Vick? TFoA
I say we shouldn't. For Pete's sake, Harrington replaced Culpepper and did better, and that's saying something because I really don't trust Harrington anyways. Culpepper is finished, I think. The knee surgeries have done him in.
NJTank
Culpeppers knee is still not healing right, he may never be able to play effectively ever again. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
BlueSky
The Falcons won't dump Vick and the reason is that for all practical purposes, they can't. His contract is such that releasing him will basically gut the Falcons money-wise for years to come, at least according to local media. They're stuck with him. They put all their QB eggs in one basket. And, it would seem, the wrong basket.
BCBoy
Quarterback questions...Which teams will be looking at C-Pep?Are the Chiefs seriously going with Huard/Croyle?Is Minnesota gonna stick with Tavaris for a whole season, good or bad?How long before the Bears look to upgrade over Grossman?Better season: Campbell, Leinart or Schaub?
