Seahawks Reach 6 year agreement with DE Kerney

The Seahawks once again bolster the DL. It seems like they do every year.

At least they ran out of Rams linemen to pillage last season....although they're welcome to Kennedy when he hits the market. <_<

What in God's name is Seattle thinking? Kerney is 31 and was injured most of last season.

there thining kerney is 29 and has gotten over 10 sacks 3 times in his carrer and is better than the 2 guys they have now, wistrom and fisher

We're both wrong on his age - he's 30 (12/30/1976). Just not sure he's going to pan out for them.

Can the Rams have them back?

Jeremy Newberry just inked a 1 year deal across the bay in Oak Town.

Ill find sources in a minute.

Oh, and Tampa just added former Giants offensive lineman Luke Petitgout

Petitgout Story

Glad to see that Tampa is bolsterig that line now. Thats definately an area of concern.

Arizona signs center Al Johnson to a four year contract, worth a whole heck of a lot more than anyone expected, although the exact dollar amount has not yet been released.

And some rumours:

New England is looking at: Randy Moss and Dante Stallworth (Boston Herald).

The Jets are looking at the possibility of brining in Briggs who wants out of Chicago.

And the newest news...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Trent Green may soon be on his way out of Kansas City.

The former Pro Bowl quarterback's agent, Jim Steiner, said Tuesday that the team is seeking to restructure Green's contract, which will pay him $7.2 million next season. The Chiefs are also entertaining offers for Green, who missed eight games last season with a severe concussion.

Green, who is signed through 2009, is scheduled to make $7.7 million and $9.2 million in the final two years of his contract. Damon Huard, who filled in when Green was hurt last season, recently signed a three-year deal with the Chiefs last month rather than become a free agent.

Travis Henry signed with the Denver Broncos today...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2788592

I love this signing. He was very good for Tennessee last year, 1,200 yards at 4.5 per, and he's the type of one cut and go runner that this system is tailor made for. Plus he's going to be the horse we can just give the ball to again and again -- no more of this RB by committee stuff.

Also, not really "free agency" related, I guess, but Dre Bly apparently isn't happy with coming to Denver since the Broncos aren't going to offer him a new contract and would rather go to Washington. I think the Broncos were trying to trade him to Washington for Shawn Springs but the salaries wouldn't line up, or something.

Oh, the prized tight end possession is gone. Good move for the Broncos with this one, although I thought they could have done fine with Scheffler. An upgrade though.

And it also looks like Stephens is gonna wind up in Tampa. Im not too sure why we need another tight end, but I guess it gives us depth behind Smith.

One of the few good things I could say about Cutler last season aside from the flashes of potential he showed (Because honestly, he wasn't very good at all last year) was that he and Scheffler looked like they had great chemistry. I would agree that it's an upgrade, though. I'd rather have seen the money spent on a D-Lineman, though I don't know if there's any good ones out there aside from Kerney.

And eww, I wouldn't want Stevens if I'm a Bucs fan. Perhaps Seahawks fans can back me up on this but as far as I've seen from him, his mouth is a lot more consistent than his hands. He showed that much in Super Bowl XL. I wouldn't doubt that the knee he took to the jewels against the Raiders was well-deserved.

Ehhh, if we do add him (He visited Tampa today) hes only there as roster filler. Weve already got our number one in Alex Smith. Although I do feel the money could be spent better elsewhere. If Stevens does sign we'll have him, Smith, Moore (assuming he resigns, which he should considering that teams usually dont offer much to primary long snappers), Becht, Wiliams, Heinrich, and Jolley (So yeah, hes probably LONG gone :( ). So really we dont need a tight end. Personally id like us to add a running back as insurance to Caddy. Pittman is a decent back, but I really dont feel hes good enough anymore to be our number two.

Joey Porter a Dolphin, eh? Reminds me of the Seau signing a few years back. A guy on the downhill of his career but still got a few productive years still left in the clock. He sure wasn't worth the $20 million guaranteed though.

It SUCKS to see Wes Welker go, but the Pats would have made a poison pill deal and get would have to give up their 2nd round pick anyways, so it was nice for both sides to do it the classy way instead. Harrington and McMichael deserved to get dropped... they simply weren't worth the money and were not getting better.

I don't know about you, but this free agency has been nuts...
