I didnt know if anyone wanted to talk about this, but what the heck...

Plenty of similar logos of different teams in the world of sports, these are just a few

Wild and Preds

Would be even closer if they were facing the same way

Islanders and Oilers

Well, kind of. Fonts in the same place with similar colors inside circles (if they were wearing throwback it would be the exact same colors)

Feel free to add anything to the list

Much more will come later, and it wont only be hockey!

Heres some more

Bears and Reds

Quite similar

Panthers and Jaguars

Hmmm...They came into the league at the same time too...

-My dad always says the Columbus BJ's secondary logo looks like the Avalanch's primary logo.

-The old Bronos logo and the current Durham Bulls logo look similar. They both have an animal jumping in a "D"

-Probably not what you are looking for, but the NY Yankees, SW/B Yankees & Staten Island Yankees all have basically the same logo.

Check out the shading (panthers less, more in the face area)

Boston Braves (AHL) circa 1970's

Atlanta Braves (since late 80's/early 90's)

I think the original Boston NL franchise used this script first.

I know this isn't what your talking about, but the Soo Greyhounds and the Greyhound bus lines use the same logo (only difference that I see is the more upward curving tail) . I'm not sure which logo came first.

I'm too lazy to actually post up the logos, but I don't think it's too hard for one to see the similarities (and relative lack of imagination in the latter) between the Minnesota Timberwolf and the Vancouv--oops--make that Memphis Grizzlie.

(yeah i spelled it that way on purpose...)

The Wild and Preds don't look anything like each other. One is stylized and graphic, while the other is detailed and "realistic". The only thing they have in common is being wild animal heads that usually have big teeth.

Oilers and Islanders? Uh, they're both round. Lots of logos are round. I have to give you the Bears and Reds, but the Panthers and Jags? Again, they're not that similar in style. They just both happen to be similar subject matter.

If you are going to call every animal head that is facing forward "similar", again, that's a pretty vague and broad definition of similar.

Now, if you want similar try these.

I think the outlines of Kansas State and Missouri look quite similar. Washinton State isn't as similar, but you can see the resemblance a little

Yep, the Braves baseball franchise first used this script while still in Boston in 1946 (but without the "tail" the AHL franchise added). The Braves have used some variation of this script (different colors, outlines, etc.) ever since. From Dressed To The Nines - the Boston Braves of 1946:

Of course, Georgia asked the Packers for permission to use the oval G as their logo, so that's legit. But what about...

SMU: PerunaBlack.gif

Calgary Stampeders: 1486.gif

That's just the generic mustang logo that Ford created. Milwaukee's AFL team used it too.

Am I the only one who thought this was completely silly, seeing that this is a Sports Logos Community?

Okay yeah your right. That was a stupid comment by me.
