Schlumberger Houston SV

Now that I've been granted a new franchise in the Premier League of America, I'm tossing out my concept for the club's kit.

*tada*

Background: Schlumberger is the world's largest oilfield services company. Based in Houston, it was founded by the Schlumberger brothers, who discovered the process for subsurface electrical measurements and surveying. In other words, they discovered the basis for modern petroleum detection methods. Schlumberger prides itself in continued innovation, or, if someone else beats them to the punch, they just buy them out. :D In addition, once upon a time, they tried desperately to hire me on as a geophysical engineer/GIS analyst, but I don't like the idea of living on an oil rig, no matter how much they wanted to pay me.

Anywho, the name works perfect for my concept of having a German-named PLA club, despite its Alsatian origins. However, Schlumberger's colour scheme doesn't exactly lend itself to creativity...

...so I had to think outside the box. Bonus points to the folks who find the historical easter eggs in the concept.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

i like it, im not really into soccer so i don't know what the regular styles or trends are, but i like the logo and the blue jersey. The other uniform reminds me of ronald mcdonald...yellow and red.

Note that the subtitle states:

*Serious C&C Only* This Means You.

:therock:

You know, I rarely visit ccslsc anymore. I really should fix that.

Easter eggs?

You mean like the Alsatian Crown in the flag? Or the red and yellow coloration of one kit? (The colors of the Alsatian flag)

Although according to this website...

http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/fr-al.html#des

the traditional Alsatian flag colors are red and white.

I notice the "traditional" Blue/White of Lorraine as well (I think Europa Universalis blew that part of the local heraldy then...)

Good eye.

I went with the colours of the modern French department of Alsace. I thought initially of going red-white-blue (for Elsaß-Lothringen when under German rule, when the Schlumberger brothers were born, as you noted), but it seemed a bit too cliched, so I went blue-white for the corporation (though Lorraine could be considered a subconscious nod also), with the modern Alsatian red-yellow for the change kit as well as the canton of the flag.

Nice. The home kit kind of reminds me of a blue/white version of Middlesbrough's kits, and that's definitely a good thing. The away kits are loud, which I suppose works if the home supporters rarely see them on the pitch :P
