Favorite Hat that you own?

Let me preface this post by saying that I'm a homer for my teams ... Buckeyes, Indians, Browns, and BlueJackets. However, there are a few hats that just look so cool that i can't pass up like ...

I get a ton of looks when i'm wearing this hat, and after a recent trip to Milwaukee last summer was greeted and cheered by the locals in admiration of my cap.

I also am going to buy this hat soon ...

Honestly, if I could make one change to any MLB uniform, I would skip over my list of improvements for any of the teams I like and make the Bucs go back to the pillbox-style cap. Maybe updated or improved just a tad, but when the Pirates kept wearing the '76 Bicentennial caps (or were they NL centennial caps?) into the 1980s, they had one of the classiest and most distinctive uniforms in all of baseball. Really, it should be the Reds wearing a pillbox cap, but if not them, then the Pirates, and in any event some team should do so. Absolutely the one uniform change I would make if I could make just one.

I have a very worn, very loved hat from the '94 World Cup. It has the main World Cup USA 94 logo on the front and this hat came in a variety in which on the left side of the hat were other countries' flags. And the one that I have was the only one that i could find with the Swedish flag on it. Sweden came in 3rd place that year and I consider it my lucky hat...hasn't failed me yet.

this is a similar pic from ebay that shows the front

I just have to bump this:

And one more question for those of you who own EFF hats. Is the kinda money that you throw down for those babies really worth it? Ive been really considering picking up a Sacramento Solons or San Francisco Seals throwback (mainly beause im intrigued to see what the leather sweatband feels like), but im hesitant to spend $45 or more on something that is either going to be fairly crappy quality, or is just gonna look goofy that id never wear.

My review, as someone who has bought eight Ebbets caps in the last ten years (though none while it was owned by Stall & Dean):

If you're looking for an authentic-looking vintage-style cap, Ebbets is the closest, highest quality you'll find. The new incarnation of EFF makes caps that are more uniform in construction, and therefore less authentic as reproductions, than formerly. All caps are six-panel, not eight, and all have crowns and bills that most closely match late 1940s or early 1950s caps. No more shorter bills on early century caps or higher crowns on mid-century caps. Materials and workmanship have improved, at least in the caps I've ordered, in the last year. Gone are the leather sweatbands, and all undervisors now seem to be green satin, not flannel (but the undervisors of the two caps I just bought look pretty normal, dark and not very reflective, compared to the super-reflective neon green satin under the visor of the cap I bought shortly after Ebbets relaunched itself in 2005).

So when you buy EFF you get a very well built cap that is closer to authentic than anything you'll find elsewhere, but you're no longer buying a cap that can honestly be called a vintage reproduction. The cap logo (embroidery, felt, or both) will be unmatched in quality and accuracy. The EFF cap has a lower, rounder profile than most modern caps, and the flannel material is softer. Slouchy, even. It will conform to your head rather than holding its own shape. An Ebbets cap looks "old fashioned" on your head.

Ebbets has regular sales, so if you see a cap you like just check back from time to time. It'll probably go on sale for a price in line with or lower than a new 5950 eventually. I highly recommend requesting a catalog; EFF is back to mailing catalogs seasonally with new products and sales. An Ebbets catalog is sort of like ballcap porn, delivered right to your mailbox every couple of months.

I miss the leather sweatbands, but at least they're using black.

Can't recommend EFF enough. Outstanding quality, historically as accurate as you'll find, simply great caps.

The only complaint I have with them is that they won't do custom caps, the way they'll do any 20th century minor league flannel jersey. Come on, boys, get with the program! :D

Frankly, I don't know why one team doesn't add a pillbox alternate, especially with the popularity of ranger caps, which are essentially pillbox baseball caps:

It should probably be a team with a very classic logo, like the Pirates or Mets (heck, even the White Sox).

That Pirates cap is beautiful - no reason it can't be worn on the ballfields today. I certainly like a it a lot more than I do their awful black/yellow/red alternate. Why a team with a classic and stylish color scheme felt the need to dump another color into it is beyond me....

Heh, well, after checking and finding that the caps Iwanted were both discounted to $25, I picked this baby up last night :D

I had this hat that was piped white and the colors of the A reversed, but my girlfriend won't give it back. Oh well I guess I don't be needing that hat since the D-Backs changed their look.
