paynomind
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/che...02baseball.html(No C&P needed!)Victory Group is looking to place a minor league baseball team, affiliated with a major league team, in Holly Springs, GA, In chrerokee county. This is, quite litterally, in my back yard. The city of Holly Springs is tiny, but Cherokee County as a whole is full of houses, businesses, and retail. Holly Springs is a progressive small town, with great commisioners, trying to grow the right way, with very restrictive building ordinances, and a tie to its history. For instance, all new retail must be built to look like the 1910's like the city buildings, particularly the railroad station now used as a conference hall. Its time for ideas, folks!Location name could either be Holly Springs, or Cherokee. I'd say it was more likely to be named Holly Springs, but thats just my guess.Any ideas? NCFA Sunset Beach Tech - Octopi ΓΔΒ! 4DOOR
Wonder is the team will be called Cherokee County. Do they have a stadium built already or will one have to be built? Seems this could be a couple of years down the road.
paynomind
They will need to build something.Holly Springs was ready to spend 5 mil to get the Atlanta Professional Womens Soccer team to move, but then the league evaporated, so I'm guessing they have the best shot.Yeah, a couple years... but things liek this can go quickly. There is already a location graded and ready to go. NCFA Sunset Beach Tech - Octopi ΓΔΒ! Going to college gets you closer to the real world, kind of like climbing a tree gets you closer to the moon. CDunn
wow. good Georgia representation on this board. I live in Kennesaw, 20 some miles north of Atlanta(though I tell people I'm from Atlanta b/c if I say Kennesaw people have no idea where that is. Also, Kennesaw is the only town which has a law that says every household has to have at least one gun and I don't really want to be associated with that), paynomind is in Cherokee, Nitroseed is in Savannah, i think discrim is originally from Savannah(could be wrong). Cherokee County is a rapidly growing area and would be suitable for a minor league club. The first name that came to mind was Holly Springs Cherokees. I don't really know much historical stuff or anything the area is famous for that would lend it a name. Major industry? Civil War battle? I dunno. Or, the article talks about a team moving to Cherokee, so maybe they could keep the name as long as it wasn't area specific.
