Where to get Flyers orange

My all-time favorite Flyer is goaltender Ron Hextall, all-time winningest goaltender in Philly, first goaltender to actually shoot the puck into the net, first goaltender to score a goal in a playoff game, Vezina winner and Conn Smythe trophy winner in the 87 playoffs (for the losing team, as a rookie), helped revolutionize the position of goaltender with his puck handling, and all around tough guy who wasn't afraid to mix it up with other guys (if you ask me, I'm wondering why his ticket to the HHOF isn't punched <_< )

Anyways, I'm looking to get a Hextall Flyers jersey. Of course, this leaves me with the problem of choosing which one to get.

With the two choices I can find easiest today (white and black), I'd rather get the white, but I'm not sure whether getting an authentic white jersey would have the CCM tag (rbk wasn't used until last season). Plus, Hextall didn't even play in 2000, so I would be kinda annoyed with having the tag under the neck.

So this leaves me one more choice, which also happens to be the hardest: Find an old orange jersey.

No, not THAT orange, THIS orange:949520phil20rd20lindrosvc5.th.jpg

Of course, the first solution is to google for one. Not such a great idea.

I've been looking on eBay and I've only been able to find this: http://cgi.ebay.com/3-CCM-NHL-HOCKEY-JERSE...bayphotohosting

But I'm not sure if the size would be good and I'm not even sure I could find a place that would still have the lettering and numbering kits.

So, I'd like to know if any of you have any good sites or shops that would have this jersey and a place that could get this numbered and lettered.

Thanks.

Go to every Sports Authority store in the Philadelphia area. Some of them still stock the replica orange jerseys, albeit in XL or XXL only.

I grabbed one (CCM) a few months ago (even though it was really big) for the sole purpose of making it a Hextall jersey (also my favorite player, with Dave Brown and Mark Howe being a close second and third respectively.)

I most recently saw one of these in their Exton store, but in the past I have seen the in other stores too.

I have not seen one in any store other than Sports Authority since they stopped making them.

Note - the jersey is blank, but finding someone to do the letters / numbers is no problem (though I haven't done it yet.) The easy thing with Hextall is that the name requires no "rounded" letters ("O","C","R", etc.) so matching the name font is not an issue (the name font is a different style from the number font.)

I'll keep that suggestion in mind. Thanks.

I think what I'll do is I'll order a CCM authentic white jersey with the Hextall lettering. Of course there will be inaccuracies abound (air-knit, tag under neck, maybe some other stuff), but it's better than nothing. Any way to show appreciation to my favorite Flyer.

The catch is to number one find a place (online or store) that has CCM authentics and not RBK, and to make sure it's authentic (can't tell from pics online unless they're really good).

One of them looks too small, two of them have the wrong crest (curved wing when it should be sharp winged), and the first one...It looks kinda good, but did they really use polyester jerseys?

I say the flyers should have orange jerseys next year.

I kow it probably wont happen dammit.

We all think they should have orange next year.

In fact, we all probably wish they never ditched it in the first place! :cursing:

Of course, it WAS more red than orange. The new ones have a lot more brighter orange, and that's pretty good. The only gripe is the weird design and logo.

Once you get your jersey, send it here.

Highly recommended. If they can handle the bizzaro collection of international, juniors and retro I just threw at them, they can certainly do a simple NHL jersey in their sleep, even if it is a few years old.

Definitely looks like a professional place. I've heard of stories about them, and they sound pretty good.

Of course, the first step is to find it.

I think this looks good. Used, but otherwise looks good. I'm not sure about the size, though, it says XL but looks smaller: http://cgi.ebay.com/FLYERS-JERSEY-ORANGE_W...1QQcmdZViewItem

Wow, why didn't I think of this myself? Hockey Jerseys Direct!

http://www.hockeyjerseysdirect.com/hjd/ak-pro1.asp

I can order the orange blank template, and if exclusive pro also has the logo, I could get all the personalization and stitching there!

Thing is I don't know if the quality of the jersey will be as good. Will it have a fight strap, will it have the right tags and in the right places, will it be the same type of material used in Hextall's playing days, etc.

Be careful... that orange jersey has a black stripe near the black cuff. The real ones had an orange stripe over the black cuff (separated by the sleeve's white.)

The ones on the classic page don't even have a stripe. I don't think I'd trust this site for either authenticity or quality.

Hextall would have worn the solid poly (think baseball jersey but thicker) and air-knit style. I don't think he was on the team when they were still wearing the Eagle wide-mesh.

Will they sell you just one? Some of those places have minimums of 5 or 10 for team orders.

Those jerseys aren't too bad, weight wise. Cetainly better than the old, very thin CCM's. Perhaps not quite up to the current CCM/Kohos, but not bad at all.

They're what I used for my Ottawa Senators Fantasy Alternate jerseys.

I'd listen to the other comments regarding the accuracy of the striping though...

If Exclusive Pro doesn't have the main logo, again, check ebay. Don't know which the most accurate, but hopefully one of these is right.

The first one has the correct "wings", but it has the dreaded black outline that plagued CCM replicas until recently. My orange also has the black outline, but I can deal with it because it is a replica and it isn't too bad against the orange background, but if you are looking for authentic, then neither of those will work.

And here's a Hextall, though it's the older model:

http://cgi.ebay.com/RON-HEXTALL-Philadelph...1QQcmdZViewItem

That one is just absurd.

Completely. I don't understand why they do these things....Hextall never came close to wearing that jersey; they'd been rid of it by three seasons already when he was a rookie.

Still got my plain-old pumpkin jersey that I bought 11 years ago. Starting to look a little worse for the wear, but I love it. I really miss seeing those.

BringBackTheVet, I never noticed that black stripe on the sleeve! If I ever become so desperate as to order a blank template, I'll make sure to check if it's black on the real one.

I've narrowed it down to three, with the first one ending in an hour and a half:

Plus, a white one in case I can't get the orange:

What do you think? Are they worth trying out? It makes me kinda suspicious when I see these jerseys going for less than $50, but I think it's my only option short of contacting the actual team to see if they've got any extras from years gone by.

The pic on the first one isn't great, so I can't tell if it has the right wings (IIRC, CCM always used the right wings, as opposed to Pro Player and Starter, so it's prob. OK.)

The second one looks fine. Keep in mind that both of those have the black outline around the P, so they won't look 100% authentic.

I would never in a million years get a white jersey that has the black outline. If you are dead set on a non-recent (manu. logo not behind the neck) I'd try to find an old authentic, or go with a Starter or Pro Player (maybe even Nike) even though the P-wings are off (the patch material is different and doesn't include the outline).

This is where it gets interesting. I have three options right here. I'm eyeing the last one because it's a CCM, but that ends in 6 days when the first two end in a day. Which looks the best?

Is it normal for the first two not to have a tag inside the collar? The size looks kinda small, but it might do.

The last one might be kinda big, but other than that it looks pretty good, especially since the owner posted pics of the collar and hemline showing the manufacterer logos.
