D'backs Logo

McCall

Recommended Posts

It was about 2 0'clock this morning and I just wasn't tired enough to go to sleep, so I started working on a script for the Arizona Diamondbacks...just for the hell of it, I guess...I then was gonna try and come up with an A with the snake coiled around one side then going across to the other side to form the bar. I decided to draw the snake head used in the updated "D-Snake" logo to get a start. Once I drew the head, I just kinda saw this in my mind and went with it. It's not perfect. It's done on notebook paper. And most importantly, it was done at 2AM. But I just wanted to get some feedback so far. Later on, if I ever get Illustrator again I'll try and perfect it a little more. Here goes:

There are a few things I'm gonna work on changing. One, I kinda what to raise up the point above the head where the middle of the A meets. A few others, too, once I get the chance.

Here is a quick color update I did in Paint. I stress QUICK. I don't have much time, but it kinda gives you and idea of how I'm seeing once it's completed.

And the colors are NOT the D'backs pantone specific colors. I just winged it for now.

Ok, let C & C and anything else fly.

That's amazing, my friend. Very professional and do-able idea. If you want to make those subtle changes you mentioned, then get the new version over to me @ StPatty33@AOL.com (or on here), I can whip it up through Illustrator.

Here's what I whipped up for you real quick. Feel free to shoot me an email if you need any changes to it, or if you want me to send you the Ill file, or a PNG w/out the watermark. I don't have a lot of free time, I just happened to really like this logo and wasn't busy for an hour or so, so I may not get right back to you. Here ya go though, man! Good stuff!

You'll notice I changed a couple things, just the color of the eye and tongue, basically. I can change those back for you, if you like.

Thanks for whooping my @$$ at my own concept. ^_^ Naw, that is frickin sweet, dude. Pretty much what I envisioned. I like the eyes and tongue red, may change the eye back to black, but I don't know, almost like it better like this. But yeah, if you could send it to me, that'd be great. I was running it through paint, as we speak, to try and improve it, but there is no need to now.

Thanks again, man. I can't believe how sweet you made that look.

Here's a quick look at the frickin awesome update from StPatty33 on both black and brick backgrounds, for cap and/or uniform purposes.

BTW, I do not promote the use of someone else's work with a watermark, or removal said watermark. I kinda did with part of it on this, but I figured since he was gonna send it to me without it anyway, I'd go ahead. This is done in paint, so it was pretty quick. Since this was in fact StPatty33's work, any concept I use this logo on, hat, uni, etc., I will give equal credit to him.....if I ever DO get to do more with this. Anybody interested in "donating" a version of Illustrator to the needy (me)? :D J/K

Sent you a quality PNG without a watermark on it to the email addy you have on file in your profile.

I put a watermark w/your name on the version I did before just because I didn't know if you'd want one or not, and I didn't want to put what is essentially your work out in the open without one. I'm more than fine if you'd prefer not to use one :)

How do you guys do that? Take a drawing from paper and then create it on the computer? Do you scan it or paste the image of the scan into Photoshop or Illustrator? Im just wondering cuz that looks fantastic.

Great work on this logo mccall and nice job of re-creating it on the computer stpatty

One of the very rare, very few great concepts on these boards.

Very well thought out. A great idea, put down on paper very well (i'm a pencil man myself)

Made into vector and shown it's full potential.

Very well done.

I admit I'm quite jealous that I didn't design it. I used to love doing graphic stuff on these boards when I didn't have a job (hahaha), but I've been too busy for the last year or so to stay active. I saw this logo concept and had to come out of semi-retirement for a day lol.

Buckeyes and Slabov, It looks like McCall scanned the picture in. I simply copied the image he had scanned, and pasted it into Illustrator CS2. Then I traced over it in detail using the Pen tool.

It looks like a great minor league logo but not really a good one for the majors. Maybe for the BP cap. Reminds me a little of the T-Bird blue jays logo.

Agreed, could work as a decent Alt logo/BP logo, but definitely as a primary for the D'Backs...awesome job by all.
