Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Ameriquest ended their naming rights agreement, and now The Ballpark in Arlington is...

Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Too cumbersome, if you ask me. What's wrong with Arlington Stadium, Ranger Stadium, or the original Ballpark in Arlington, which while still cumbersome, was better? I love stadiums without corporate names, but I'm not a fan of this one. I'm also not a fan of the "Texas Rangers" name, since they're a Dallas team, so that plays into my distaste as well.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Yeah I gotta agree with you on this one. Even THE Ballpark in Arlington wouldve been better. But to tell you the truth, I had no idea that Ameriquest was even involved with the naming of the park. Shows how well that one went over

I personally think that nothing beats a simple name like [insert team nickname here] Stadium. But if a team isnt going to take a company name, location in the form of something like [insert signifigant location here] Park is fine as well. As long as its AT that location, EX: Candlestick Park, (Was) Ballpark at Arlington, Texas Stadium, ect. Combining the Nickname and location is a bit much to me. Plus, Rangers Ballpark at Arlington for some reason makes me think im going to see the European football club Rangers FC at some point.

I agree that the name should be sweet and simple. The Ballpark at Arlington was fine but something like Rangers Stadium would be nice and simple.

I never really liked the Ballpark's name, it felt so unnecessarily vanilla for such a nice modern ballpark like it is. For a long time I've thought that it should just be named "Nolan Ryan Field" or maybe something with a little bit more Texas symbolism like "Lone Star Field." If they ever wanted to attach a corporate sponsorship, they could just tack it on at the end like "Nolan Ryan Field at Dr. Pepper Ballpark."

This new name is even worse than the original. Rangers Ballpark in Arlington? Is there some other "Rangers Ballpark" that we might confuse this one with?

Although I agree that the name is clunky and the stadia names should be kept simple, I still think that Rangers Ballpark in Arlington is WAY BETTER than a corporate sponsor. ("Ameriquest Ballpark in Arlingon"? Um...I don't think so)

Its probably only temporary...after the Astros dumped Enron they called their stadium Astros Field for about half a season before going with Minute Maid.

I agree, it's probably only a matter of time before it becomes ExxonMobil Ballpark or something similar.

it is. They'll have another corporate sponser name tagged to the stadium by the end of the season. My guess it'll probably be Haliburton Ballpark in Arlington.

I happened to have loved "The Ballpark in Arlington". Simple and traditional sounding name. I'd prefer a return to that, but Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, not much of a stretch from the original.

Also, I think they go by Texas because they actually play in Arlington and not Dallas. I know the Cowboys actually play in Irvin, but nonetheless. Also, Rangers in Texas are usually called the Texas Rangers, so it's kinda like the Baltimore Orioles, where it's named after the state bird, the Baltimore Oriole, where the location is actually part of the nickname as well.
