What does this mean for Carr?

-Michigan's only Houston Texans fan.

what do you think it means? They didn't trade for Schaub to keep him as a backup, esp at that cost.

If the The Falcons are sure that the Raiders will take JaMarcus Russell at #1 they should trade up to #2 and grab Calvin Johnson.

Might work... CJ's used to catching passes from a horrible QB.

I thought Houston was the winner when I first heard of hte trade...When it was Schaub for a 2nd rounder...

But 2 2nd round picks? That's pretty steep.

They gave up allot and I think Carr just needs a line and is better then Schaub

The Falcons already have a bunch of money and two recent first-round picks tied up to WR's (Michael Jenkins, Roddy White, Brian Finneran, and Joe Horn). They aren't going after Calvin Johnson unless he drops to 8th.

Agreed, Carr-nikova is probably better than Schaub. With what the Texans gave up, though, they have to be thinking that Schaub is the QB of the future. Nobody (in their right mind) gives up that much for a backup QB.

I don't know what led them to believe that. Schaub was a mid round draft pick, and looking at his numbers, he hasn't done much to improve that status.

In my opinion, Schaub is making a lot of money (and the Falcons have gained a wealth of picks) by virtue of picking apart a decimated Patriots secondary on national TV. As a Lions fan, I know how a few good games as a backup don't necessarily translate to starting ability, thank you very much Scott Mitchell.

The Falcons need a back up now and I think they should sign Aaron Brooks, Vick's cousin hes not done good as a starter but backing up Vick hes an experienced starter who can step in and play similar to Vick.

As for Carr he will be a good pick up as a reclamation project I would not mind even seeing the Dolphins nab him.

Because the Falcons need to have a less-capable version of Vick who's only attribute seems to be a remarkable ability to throw the ball backwards.

Yeah. Lets say Vick struggles massively (which he really hasnt done to the extent its been made out to be) or he even goes down. If the Falcons put the ball into Brooks' hands they're royally screwed. Ill say one thing though. Now that Atlanta has Horn, who can at least act like he knows what the hell hes doing while running a route, Vick should have an easier time looking good. But if at any point Vick goes down and you see Brooks manning the helm, you can pretty much put money on it that the Bucs (Yeah, shaddup :P) or Aints are gonna finish a few games ahead of them (Panthers are STILL overrated).

I think Bobby Petrino is clearing the QB house for this to be a make or break season for Michael Vick. If Vick breaks out in his offense, he just got a lot for the NFL's "hot" (i.e. "most marketable") backup. Brooks would be a stop-gap and they can always pick up a capable backup QB in the 3rd-5th rounds. If Vick flops, I would look for Petrino to go after former pupil Brian Brohm for 2008.

Aaron Brooks = WTF Moment of this thread. Dan said it best, if we were to pick up Aaron Brooks and he somehow got his way into a game, then our goose is cooked.

If anybody, I say that we should just continue nurturing our "as-of-right-now backup D.J. Shockley", and pick up Anthony Wright. Either way, we need a backup mobile QB who is not Aaron Brooks or Shaun King.

Atlanta wipped Houston. Big time.

But Carr had to go. He had run out of oppurtunities. Sure he had a bad OLine, but Rosenfels didnt seem to have an issue when he stepped in and played. Carr just couldnt read the D fast enough, and held on too long. Hopefully Schaub does better.

Houston gave away way to much for Schaub, but at least they signed him to a pretty favorable contract. It's being reported as a 6 year, $48 mil deal that's really more of a 3 year, $20 mil deal. Besides the pick ransom they gave up for him, anytime you can get a young starting QB locked up for 6 years and less money than a decent guard is going for these days, it's a good move.
