Devils fire head coach.

Wow, the Devils are just a bizarre team, that do quirky things.

You can do weird things when you don't have a fanbase to answer to.

You'd be in serious danger of getting rocked in the face if you said that statement near me.

Okay. You're from Jersey, and you're displaying a Rebel flag. There's a disconnect here. Is there some third graphic you can implement for a Boorish Jackass Trifecta?

I have avatars and sigs turned off, but I just looked at yours. You're terrible. And are you going to fight everyone? Really? What a joke.

I can't stand Lou. But I understand he's a winner. And he'll win at all costs.

I know it's worked before. I'm sure he has a plan.

So, all of that aside.

What happens if the Devils don't win? I mean, you probably can't complain about getting to the Final or even the 3rd round (though that'd still leave room for questioning), but what if they get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round?

Do you just say, Lou knew what he was doing and things didn't work out? Or is it okay to blast the hell out of this move (which you CAN do without blasting Lou and his overall knowledge and ability)?

This may work out, but I won't agree with the move either way.

I'm loyal to a fault. I don't like seeing guys who are struggling get let go. I certainly wouldn't fire a guy who's in the midst of that sort of success.

I say 10 million people can't all be wrong! :hockeysmiley:

So if I am big (6'2", 210), Irish and from Jersey (even though life on the southern side of I-195 is lightyears different from what lurks above it), are people not allowed to mess with me? Sweeeeeeeet... I need some me time" right about now.

[back to the matter at hand, non-pissing contest division...]

I'm not a Devils fan (the wife, however, is a die-hard), but I'd love an explanation as to why this happened. Most of the time, people get canned with the Devils because they crossed Big Lou. I don't know how 100+ points, a playoff berth and a recent hot streak can get a guy fired. I realize we'll never get an answer, but this is weird even by Devils standards.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Your wife seems to have taste, how did she end up with you? :P

All joking aside based on my observations on following the team and know the recent history with Devils coaches being fired or quiting I think it was more to do with the players not liking Julien for what ever reason and things boiled over for some reason this month. Despite winning 4 out of their last 5 they have not played well. The game last week against the Flyers they maybe played well for about five minutes of the game at the end of the second (of course in that time they scored two goals), Brodeur basically stood on his head in first period and in the final minutes of the game. And this was with some of the top guys back. The whole season has been like this with the team playing well part of the time but it is has mostly been Brodeur. Especially lately with some lethargic games this past week it seems as if the team may be quitting on Julien.

With Julien there seems to be a couple of issues. One he is a nice guy and nice guys never work with the Devils (see Larry Robinson's two coaching stints). It looks like the players saw Lou as the person pulling the strings and as expected tuned him out (See the upcoming 2007 San Diego Chargers for another example). Another issue has to do with how he handled injuries. This team more than any Devils team I can remember has been hit by injuries (I think this has a lot to do with the Devils letting long time trainer Bill Murray go). It seems like Julien was pushing players to come back too soon from injuries. Early this year Gomez came back early from a groin injury and he reinjured it. Same thing with Gionta in early March. Third thing may be Julien's system while similar to what the Devils run it was very defensive even for the Devils. The top line is having an off year and is not producing anywhere it should be.

This team has struggled this month mostly due to injuries, when the players came back they started winning (against bad teams) but were playing poorly. My guess is Lou sensed the team quitting on Julien for whatever reason and pulled the trigger which he has never been shy to do.

Since there is still East Coast bias and not like you care about this, ima bring it up anyway. Los Angeles dumped Andy Murray with 12 games to go last season to get a fresh leadership voice in while the Kings were two spots away from the playoffs. Wrong-o ! That didn't work, they sputtered and played golf in mid-April. There was a major overhaul in the Front Office and things are coming along. With Patrick O'Sullivan, Anze Kopitar and Jack "MF" Johnson on board, the Kings will get their sh** together.

You could have made the same point without making yourself look ridiculous by writing "Since there is still East Coast bias..."

You're posting on a sports logo message board. Do you really think that people dedicated to the minutiae of Pantone color values, stitching methods, and football socks take the time to even consider a supposed "East Coast bias"?

O/T, but if the Blues had had Murray all season this year, they probably would have made the playoffs (or at least competed for a spot) as well.

The Devils' Stanley Cup victory "parades" are pep-rallies in the C.A. Arena parking lot. I don't doubt that they have some great fans, but...

Ok, where exactly did you want them to have it? They didn't really play in the middle of a City. What did you want them to do parade down route 3 or the Turnpike? If I'm correct Carolina did a similar thing the past season because they have a similar situation where they don't play in the middle of a city and play in between 3 cities.

And by the way they were better than any Cup Parade the Flyers have has in the past 30 years.

I'm sorry fellas, I couldn't hear you over the 5,000 more people a game we have coming to our arena to see our "inferior" franchise. You were saying something? :D
