klesla
Anyone know why the Braves were wearing a "33" patch today?
TFoA
It's in honor of two players who I believe died sometime during the offseason. Don't quote me on it though, I really wasn't paying attention to it when they referred to it during the game. But it's gonna be there all season, more than likely. Survival79
The Braves will wear a patch this season to honor the memory of both Johnny Sain and Lew Burdette, two of their former hurlers who passed away during the offseason. The patch will read, "LB 33 JS." Soon after Burdette was traded from the Yankees to the Braves in exchange for Sain in 1951, he began wearing the same No. 33 jersey that Sain had previously worn. "If things have gone wrong, I'm talking to myself, and you've got a wet towel wrapped around your head."
