cheo25
I love everything about them except for the new Reds man.I love the font. I love the drop shadow. It's all very nice and clean.I don't like that they changed the Reds man to not longer depict uniforms that they currently wear. Really, the uniform is fine, and I might not even care if the hat had stripes on it instead of a logo. But why a pillbox hat? That bothers me.But not that much. These look great.I'm guessing the pillbox hat ties in with calling the mascot Mr. Redleg, giving him a curled mustache and the font that looks like something from the 19th century. I think all of it is the Reds trying to embrace their past, since they were the first professional baseball team.I like the running Red logo better myself, the font could do without the black drop shadow, and a complete elimination of black from the Reds' uniforms and logos would be ideal. But I like the fonts and the new uniforms. Glad to see the Reds with sleeves again.
dbackdiehard17
The font doesn't work. Just use block, no shadows.Couldn't of said it better myself. The same design team that made these, should have been hired to do Arizona's....O well, I guess I'll have to wait another 10 years.... DG_ThenNowForever
Alright TCR. Convince me why these new uniforms can absolutely NOT be the best in the league? I don't know where I'd rank them (or where I ranked thier identity off hand), but I'd have no problem believing they could go in a top 3 or top 5 list.To TCR's point, several people have said that the Reds' font is atrocious. I'm certainly inclined to agree with that position and it's definitely valid. Some of us like clean block numbers on uniforms, some of us don't. I think top three is definitely a stretch, not at least until they officially remove black for good and fix the fonts. For what it's worth, I would put the Yankees, Tigers, Red Sox, those damn Cardinals, Orioles, Dodgers, A's and Mariners (if not more) above the new Reds. For my money these are far better than the Yankees uniforms. Both of them.I guess around here you gotta believe the Yankees, Red Sox, and Tigers have the best. Oh, and the Cardinals can go in there too if you don't root for them.Oh boo. You know full well that the vast majority of this community thinks the Cardinals look terrific, home and away discrepancies be damned. And you certainly are aware you don't "gotta" believe anything. If you don't want people to gang up on your homerism, you can at least stop ganging up on yourself. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

Convince me why these new uniforms can absolutely NOT be the best in the league?Drop shadows are bad baseball design and the names and numbers aren't legible from a distance. That sufficient? And to show I'm not a homer, there's a lot wrong with how the Cubs look that mires them in the middle 10 designs, IMO.
STL FANATIC
But some of us think the font looks terrific. Maybe it's a love hate thing. But, TCR, instead of just diagreeing and having a different opinion, you decided he had to be dumb (or a homer) to like these uniforms that much.I'm not dumb, and I'm not a Reds fan and I think they're fantastic. A different Cincinnati team was. The current Reds are actually the third major league team to bear the name (or a similar one along the same line). The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Guest
I actually wonder if that typeface is more fitting for a Denver or Arizona uniform than a Cincinnati uniform. It has a Western feel to me more than an old-timey-base-ball feel. I'll whip up a Rockies concept today.

No "great" uni can utilize drop-shadows.Two, the "C-Reds" logo font on the front is different than the name font on the back. I don't like it. Deduct points for that. It's a nice set, and certainly better than what they've had. But better than the Red Sox, Yanks or Tigers? Not even close.I think that gentleman is gay.He pulls more hot trim than Mr. Met, i guarantee that.

Guest
But they're pulling themselves in two directions here: they're yelling LOOK HOW OLD-FASHIONED WE ARE with this typeface, but then they're muddying it up with ultra-modern hippified extraneous black drop-shadows. Commit to one or the other. Are you the self-styled oldest ball club and reflecting such in your identity, or are you slapping black where it's not needed to move more units like some dopey 90s Sun Belt expansion team? Pick one. In the meantime, this is bad design.

In the meantime, this is bad design.Niether black nor dropshadows are especially modern. For a time they became unnecessarilly trendy, but that trend has wound down. These are not done in a trendy matter, but rather in a classic way.I also don't understand how these are illegible. Maybe the poster shouldn't have said it as harsh as you need to have your eyes checked, but in every instance I've seen these uniforms (and I watched some of the game yesterday), they're very readible. It appears there's just a great range of opinions on this design, specifically the numbers. That's ok. JUSTIN STRIEBEL | PORTFOLIO | RESUME | CONTACT
