I'll be rooting for the Sens in the finals. No, not as a bitter Wings fan, but rather a Jason Spezza fan, as well as someone who'd like to see the cup go to Canada. I'd be lying if I said I'm not displeased about the Wings loss, but to be honest, I didn't expect them to make it as far as they did. I figured they would've lost rather easily to the Sharks. Much to my delight, they played a heck of a series against the Ducks, somehow practically dominating games 4 and 5 - games that they lost. Giguere played a hell of a series, and the Wings made mistakes that hurt 'em in the end. At least Hasek won't win another Stanley Cup. I can't stand him.

On a side note, I really, really hope that Robert Lang and, as much as I hate to say it, Kirk Maltby find a new place to play next year. Crosby for Lang and Malts sounds even to me. :hockeysmiley:

OMG! The game was preempted in Manitoba for the provinicial election. Surely there's outrage. Maybe Icecap will now say how he hates elections as much as horse racing and ....

If you're kidding then yeah, that was funny. If you weren't, then I'm very sorry you can't see the differences in the two situations. Chris outlined them nicely.

Did the NHL reschedule the start time of the game to accommodate CBC's wishes (and against the wishes of another network) to air the game at a certain time and then CBC decided to cut off the broadcast nationally to air this election?

FTW :)

Yeah, I tuned into the Seeb to catch the game, and then I see Janet Stewart's smiling face, talking about how much everyone loooves Gary Doer.

Come on. There were two other local stations broadcasting election coverage, an election that was never really in doubt. Would it kill the mother network to air some hockey?

FTW :)

Much in the same way you can not give yourself a nickname....

:D

So all of us here, save Roger, are rooting for the Sens, right?

Edit: Duh, and Neon is rooting for SoCal, too.

Being a Thrashers fan and an American, I simply cannot cheer for Ottawa.

though this is kinda interesting. In 02 the Canes went to the stanley cup finals and lost, then went to the stanley cup last year and won. In 03, the ducks went to the staney cup finals and lost, and this year are in the finals. Both teams faced canadian teams.

No harm then. You have to admit though that when it comes to you, it's hard to tell kidding and not kidding apart :P

And I happen to like curing.

This was my thought when the ducks made the finals as well. It's also interesting that both teams had kind of cinderella runs to the finals the first time, but the second time were really the favorites by most. It's too bad the Ducks changed their Disney uniforms, it doesn't seem like the same franchise anymore to me. It's sad.

I think I'll be rooting for Ottawa...

Provided that if they win, those cup banners that their franchise did not win come down...

i wonder if they are going to include the cup banners from then, obviously acknowledging there prior incarnation, if they acknowlege the St. Louis Eagles as part of there franchise history? Or are they erasing the move to St. Louis back in 34 or 35 from the franchises history?

They do have banners for those championships hanging at Scotiabank Place.

That is ridicilious that they have their current logo on there. They should use the "O" logo they used back then.

So yeah, how about that Stanley Cup final?

Just watching, and CBC interviewed Snoop Dog in the stands. Not a big fan, but I thought it was fun

Well, if some team's winning in the state of California, and it isn't the 49ers, Giants, or (Sac) Kings, Snoop's there apparently.

And about the game? I have no idea because I am nowhere near a TV at the moment.

I'm surprised you're going for the Ducks. How would that make your team look if they were to lose? I'd think you'd be going for the Sens so you could say "Hey, we lost, but only because they'd end up becoming the Stanley Cup Champions."

Or maybe I'm just a jaded bandwagon Sens fan. idk. :P
