Burning River
The black spaces on the side bug me as well. Maybe if the oval was rotated 90 degrees. I know it's not the "standard" look... but it just looks odd the way it is.
Gothamite
I'm not sure what you mean by the "standard" look, but I do think a circle would have been better. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
CAVALIER
Howdy all! How do?Well, for those who ain't realize it, this upcoming season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be celebrating their 75th Anniversary. In the next two weeks, the team will be holding a VIP kick-off ceremony, followed by a fan ceremony I believe the following week if not that same day (Imma have to go back and check that).Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because wemay see a few special "quirks" from the Steelers, from what I've been hearing. (Let me also say that the project from which I got this info came DIRECTLY from the organization itself.)For one, here's an early look at the Steelers' upcoming 75th Anniversary patch (expect to see it on the jersey somewhere, possibly in place of the hypocycloid that's on there now):I've also been hearing grumblings about a certain other "very special" quirk that might turn up at some point this season: the very real possibility of a yellow helmet. Now, at this point this may all be much ado about nothing, but, if this does happen, you saw it here first!Oh--and about that yellow helmet:(Now obviously this is a mini replica, not an actual-sized helmet, but, it's interesting that a designer inside the Steelers' organization would choose to put that on a postcard that's being mailed out to all the VIP invites for this special VIP-only ceremony.)Now...I'm just SAYING...*EDIT: I'm also working on a concurrent concept to sorta kinda see how this type of thing might play out...at least in my mind's eye. Kee a look out.*I absolutely love the yellow helmet, and I think it would look great full time. I doubt Steeler fans would go for it, but if you go with the yellow helmet and bracket the numbers in gold like the invitation you really have a great upgrade. SoxSteeler
i'd like to see it twice a year maybe but definitely not full time. The athletic gold(yellow) years were losing years but its still part of the history and plus it looks pretty sweet.
c-boath
The off-center banner bugs the heck out of me.I did this just to show it's not an optical illusion brought on by italic numbers - it really is off-centerBased on that , the steeler logo itself is off center as well.I don't get the oval AT ALL. Circled doesn't do anything for me either. 25 years is silver, 50 gold, 75 is diamond. Diamond shape would look much better.
c-boath
This is a quicky 20 minute job, but I like the diamond loads better than the oval.Someone mentioned block numbers as well. So I did it with those.
leopard88
That is infinitely better than the actual patch. Nice work. Panthers
Gotta bust out the white pants some time. They last wore those - as an away team - in 1971.

After reading the Concepts FAQ i'm not so sure I should post it there. Like I said, I only spent 20-30 minutes on it. The entire motivation was, as a fan, I was completely underwhelmed by the design they came up with and figured I could do better - or at least no worse - in a relatively short time. The numbers I chose - while possbily being currently used by the vikes - are the block numbers worn by the steelers for 30+ years. I agree I could probably find a better number font, but I didn't have the time at work to go searching for one that says '75th anniversary' in style I like the block numbers better than the current rounded numbers style they presently use. To me, those numbers are ok on a jersey, but rather uninspiring on a 75th anny logo. Just my .02. If you still feel it's concept forum worthy - I can put it over there as well. As a newcomer, though, I just don't want to overstep my bounds.
