DEFAULT
Here's a logo I've been working on, as you can see it's basically a backboard with the rim being in the shape of Texas. I tried and tried but I counldn't get a net to come close to match the perspective. Put that post in the Request board though. Trying to get a NBA/MLB feel to it, just a sillouete/very undetailed picture. Since it's for a tournament I wanted to make it very simple to put on a shirt or program. What do you guys think? I really admire you guys' thoughts and opinions whether they're negative or positve, so feel free to say whatever you want.
puckcool22
make it more clear that its a backboard, or put some words ont herenice idea and the texas is great
Reaper98
I like where you're going with the idea but I think if you want it to be instantly recognizable as a basketball logo that you should make Texas the backboard and have a net mounted in the middle of it. The hoop with netting hanging from it is a pretty recognizable basketball symbol.

ColeJ
i'd try to use a different texas shape. i live in dallas, and that texas shape you used is known almost entirely as a "Texas Hockey" shape... it's sharper and more stylized than the real state shape... it was made by the dallas stars, as their secondary logo, but its also used by just about every hockey team in the state of texas.i dunno. maybe it just stands out to me, since i'm a dallas stars fan, but using the dallas stars texas shape really stands out to me. first thing i noticed. kc51design
Raise your rim a little bit, rim is not on the bottom of the board, it's a little bit above. Put a stylised net, just some lines that will make sure viewer recognizes a basketball board emidiatly...
paynomind
If you wanted to see how it would look to reverse it, as Reaper suggested, I did this real quick, so we could take a look at it.I like the look this way.
DEFAULT
Cole: I know that it's known as a Hockey symbol, but trust me most people don't. Also, it fit into the "sleek" look I wanted to go for. It's edges were "rounder" to be more like a rim. Paynomind: Thanks for the mock-up, I'm just not feeling it. I wanted to go for a "smooth"/"sleek" look. I left words off of it, so I could add different things on it later. Like I said in the Request thread, I can't for the life of me get a net onto the Texas! If anyone would want to tweak anything else, I'd be more than happy for it, I also have the .PSD saved if anyone wanted to mess with that, drop me a PM and I'll email you a .zip of the photoshop file. Thanks again guys.
paynomind
There should be a "flushing toilet" icon for when someone makes something, and the original guy says, "nope."

Saintsfan
I dunno if it would make things to complicated, but adding a ball somewhere to your original would make it more obviously a basketball logo maybe??

Well, so far, you have definately nailed down the "big black box and hockey logo" look. Good luck with that.
