The bridge is a beautiful tie-in, I think this is my favorite All Star jersey to date. I'm looking forward to buying a Paul Konerko.Also, here's hoping the AL version is cream colored. Which is strange because the basic elements (colors, paneling, piping) are all the same. I just like the way these are put together better. batman1211 Posted April 19, 2007 Share Posted April 19, 2007 I do not like the front of the jerseys. It is a lame attempt to incorperate the Golden Gate Bridge with the NationaL lettering. The numbers and colors are ok. Overall, this looks pretty much like a 3rd rate design. It just seems to me that between MLB and the SF Giants they could have scraped up enough money to have a professional design something that looked presentable. I think the current Giants BP jersey isnt very good in that its lacking the giants Gold and/or Cream color. even San Deago fixed their BP problem by adding the sandish gold color as an accent. that and I think the bridge should be worked into the BP wordmark. It would be unique, add the unique colors, fix the black on black problems, and would be one damn good looking jersey. Oh, and BTW, just to let you know, this is by far the most popular Giants logo that I know of. I love the idea behind it, but I find the execution, particularly in the form of the shapes of the lettering, to be quite poor. That is just not the right set of letters to go with the bridge. Plus, the bridge tower in the middle is oriented the wrong way to support the arch of letters. This called for a more considered choice of letter style, along with some use of perspective to make it look like the arch of letters is coming out toward the viewer on the N side. The symmetrical side-view aspect of the lettering arch takes perhaps the most dramatically photogenic human-built structure on the continent and uses the sole possible uninteresting viewing angle. Also, the home team should be orange, the visitors, black. But the quality of the idea counts for something, even if the execution looks slapdash, so this jersey falls squarely in the middle of the spectrum for me. Not great, not bad. Better than the All-Star jerseys from Detroit, but not nearly in the same class as the jerseys from Milwaukee. (If anyone has a spare Milwaukee All-Star jersey, either American or National, in either size L or 44, drop me a line! Been hunting for one of those for a long time now. Best ASG league jerseys ever.)And while I've seen lots of people up and down the East Coast wearing Giants caps, I've never once seen anyone wearing that "most popular" bridge-G logo.
