Merchant, like Joe Theismann on MNF, is a gas bag who should've never been put on the air in the first place. I found it to be a hilarious, ribald show featuring the behind-the-scenes machinations of a late-night talk show.I hope Garry Shandling lands on his feet soon, perhaps even in a movie with Warren Beatty. Unless, of course, the hammer was already there and then the body was placed next to it. Otherwise, I'm guessing that a hammer was found near the body.
