Congrats to the Golden State Warriors. Im usually not much of a B Ball fan, but their performance gained them at least a casual fan in me. This is basically how the 2006-07 season ends for me, because you couldn't pay me to give a damn about how the rest of this season finishes up.

You notice every time one of these leave the bench incidents happen; it is the team's whose bench is closest to the altercation.

You see a team flattened like that it is very hard not to at least move in that direction, and as long as you dont get involved in any way there should be no suspension.

It is the is the most moronic rule, and it has decided two playoff series now. When rules that are dumb decides NBA Postseason series something is wrong.

I happen to like that rule. The NHL definitely has rules against players leaving the bench during a fight/brawl, and I'm pretty sure the NFL has a rule prohibiting this, also. (MLB gets a pass, there aren't an equal number of opposing players on the field.) Ruling on intent is a difficult thing, so making a general decision, regardless of the player's intent, is fair and unbiased and leaves no gray area.

The Bulls are out. I thought they had a real good chance to take the series. They had all the momentum and were playing great. They are a young team and will be better next year.

I don't know how much momentum they really had... the Pistons are a very tough team to beat when they actually show some effort on defense. As a Pistons fan, it's the most frustrating thing in the world. (Well, not as frustrating as following the Grizzlies probably would be, but...)

It was apparent from the first three games in the series, and even during stretches in games 4-5, that when the Pistons wanted to they could absolutely shut down the Bulls offense. I've seen this time and time again since 2004: when the Pistons feel like they're clearly the better team and will win, they stop giving a s---. Going into the series, everyone was raving about how the Bulls swept the defending champs. The Pistons had something to prove, and the Bulls shot in the low 30% range in that graphic ESPN kept showing last night. Up 3-0, everyone started talking about how the Bulls weren't ready and the Pistons were dominating, and boom, the Bulls start shooting 50-60%. 3-2, and the Bulls "have the momentum"? They shoot in the low 30s again.

The Bulls didn't get better or worse; the Pistons just turned it on and off.

i agree that probably the most frustrating part of watching them is KNOWING that they've stopped giving a :cursing: and are just trying to cruise past whoever it is that they're playing. Hopefully, they've learned something from the Bulls and will actually finish a team off rather than letting them get back into the series.

Nets are done <_< . Only two seasons left in New Jersey. A lot is to be desired with this team. The possible resigning of Carter, getting some more depth on the bench, the return of Krstic. Makes me sad that they will only be in New Jersey for two more seasons. The Cavs got by, but the Nets exposed 'em for sure. Without LeBron, the Nets cut the deficit to one. With LeBron, well... they finished 'em off for good. Here is some advice for the Pistons. Get LeBron out of the game! Without the King, the Cavs are totally different, as seen in the third quarter. With LeBron, the Cavs can possibly go all the way, as seen in the fourth quarter. I hope the Nets can win a title in New Jersey, but they are missing that something, just something. Hopefully they can find out what that something is and be even better next season. Congrats Cavs, Cavs fans.

The Cavs exposed Vince Carter for the fraud he is. The better team won the series.

My prediction of Utah-Cleveland is looking pretty good right now, even if they are both going to get drilled by Detroit and Dallas/Phoenix respectively.

Hmmm....I must have missed that Mavs' series win against the Warriors. I wonder why I missed it............

But, no, I don't think Utah or Cleveland have one shred of a chance in the Conference Finals. It's going to be a repeat of 2005 (and even less people are going to watch)

I obviously meant San Antonio. Who are going to kill Utah

As an impartial observer who watched game 6 of the Suns/Spurs series (which was the first game of the series I watched), I have to say that at this point I am utterly disgusted with San Antonio after that game. Not only do they flop and whine more than any team out there - not just Manu - but they play the dirtiest defense that I can remember seeing in the NBA in a decade.

Bowen was guarding Nash for most of the game, and on pretty much every replay they showed, he was hand-checking, clutching, and grabbing Nash. Every time Nash got penetration, you could see his non-ball hand or shoulder jerk backwards as he was grabbed. Yet midway through the fourth quarter, Bowen had one foul. WTF?

I'm not trying to take anything away from the Spurs, because other than that, they played a fantastic game and appear to be the team to beat. And like I said, I didn't really care who won the game. But the fact that the refs allowed San Antonio to play a different brand of perimeter defense than anyone else - a style reminiscent of late '90s Pat Riley Heat - is ludicrous. Bowen should foul out of every game in the second quarter on nothing but hand-checks.

I enjoy watching the NBA far more than most people I know, and even I was totally turned off by the end of the game. The NBA seriously needs to improve the quality of their officiating and consistently apply the rules, or I don't think anyone will be able to take their product seriously.

I agree.

The refs were horrible. I remember last night when Amare saved the ball, and he was clearly in play, the ref said he was out. They need to get refs that aren't 75 and can see good. I mean, one or two missed calls is fine, but the rules and officiating are horrible. Now you can't even play good defense, you get a blocking call each time. The NBA needs to change, before this season I was a huge fan, but the rules have pissed me off.

Mutombo spent his whole career doing the finger thing, and this year he gets a technical.

One possible solution, in my opinion, would be to call hand-checking (Bowen style) extremely strictly, but cut down on the block/charge calls. Nowadays you see offensive players throwing themselves into the defense and forcing the refs to make a call.

If the NBA left the officials the option of letting them play and not making a call in that situation - if the contact was equally initiated between the offensive player and defender - interior play would become more exciting because offensive players would have to legitimately try to put the ball in the basket, rather than trying to draw a foul. Plus, players could play defense other than simply sticking their hands straight up and trying to draw a charge.

Those changes combined would keep the overall number of fouls about the same and open up the game. If the NBA did that, plus instituted a penalty for flopping (similar to soccer) where a player got a warning the first time and a technical after that, the game would improve substantially.

(end rant)

I agree with you 100% here.

Also, the NBA is considering a rule where the issue a technical foul when a player intentionally flops to get a foul call.

I definately have to agree with offensive players trying to draw fouls under the basket by creating contact instead of trying to just make the basket... and I know, Iverson does it as much as most others. However, when a player pump fakes and gets a defensive player leaves his feet, regardless if the offensive player creates the contact, that should be an automatic foul.

WOW what a game by LeBron, so much for the criticism he got about not being clutch. 48 points scoring the Cavs last 25 points including the game winner in double OT.

That was an all-time great performance. He was knocking down everything. Absolutely incredible. You have to find a way to get the ball out of his hands at some point if your Detroit.

A zone against LeBron in the final moments of three quarters? Really?

As much as I still hold much hatred for Larry Brown's handling of the Knicks, bottom line, if he's coaching Detroit, those layups/dunks become much more difficult if not deleted all together.

Gotta love the kid... I was hoping for Cleveland vs. San Antonio since the conference finals began, so hopefully Bron Bron closes it out at home on Saturday.
