(TIPS), ownership group of the National Indoor Football League announced the team name and logo for the new NIFL franchise. The new team name and logo were presented today at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado. “We were looking for a name and colors that was unique, but adequately represented the area and presented an intimidating presence. The snake was that presence, but the name Venom and the logo was the key to something new and different,” stated TIPS part owner and Director of Operations Garmez Parks.The Colorado Venom will play a fourteen game schedule in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) in the 2004 season. The Venom will open its inaugural season on the road against the defending Pacific Conference champion Utah Warriors. The first home game for the Venom will be Saturday April 3rd against the Lincoln Capitols of Lincoln, Nebraska. The NIFL will be entering its fourth year when the 2004 football regular season begins this March and runs thru the end of June. The playoffs will begin in July and culminate with the Indoor Bowl IV. The Venom, whose colors are purple and gold, will play their home games at the Budweiser Events Center. The National Indoor Football League currently has 25 teams in 18 different states. Player and dance team tryouts times and locations will be announced soon. The Venom also announced the hiring of General Manager Troy Murphy. Mr. Murphy was with the Cincinnati Swarm of the af2 league, as the Director of game day operations and marketing manager during the 2003 football season. Mr. Murphy will be in charge of the day to day business operations of the team. A head coach will be announced at a later date.Season tickets prices for the 7 home games of the 2004 season will go on sale at 12 p.m. on Friday January 9, 2004. Posted January 9, 2004 Share Posted January 9, 2004 Yet compared with the Staten Island Xtreme and Atlantic City Cardsharks, it's a work of art.It's not great, but it's a step in the right direction, especially for the NIFL.
