BR DESIGN

Not much to say. BR is my initials. The three lines in the middle will represent something I need to figure out at a later date dealing with my "branding". The two lines between the B and R also represent my 2nd shot at a design label (The first one need not be named). Further details regarding this will probably come sooner rather than later, though. One final comment: "Is it too simple" I really don't know for sure. I'd also like to know everyone's opinion on whether I should leave it B+W or alter the colors. Other general C+C is appreciated GREATLY as always. Thanks in advance

There's what i was thinking. Too bad the thought behind it is a little mediocre in my opinion.

So basically you made a mark that represents something, but you don't know what. So you're gunna try your hardest to think of something that has to do with 3 lines. I say dig a little deeper my friend, make a mark that truely represents something to you.

I agree with Speedy. To me any mark a should have some significance. I read it honestly as BIIR (BURR) I dunno just has a negative meaning in my opinion.

Adding onto my statement since you added a few more pictures...

Identity. Print. Web? That sounds awfully familiar.. hmm.... oh yeah! Brilliams.

Do you design websites? What prints have you done? I feel bad busting your balls but this just seems totally 100% half-assed.

I see what you are going for with the 3 lines. Unfortunately it just won't work because the lines will be initially interpreted as letters instead of simply graphic elements.

At first glance, it looks like BIIR. When that doesn't make sense, you consider Bllr. When that doesn't make sense, you just give up.

It's definitely not too simple. If you come up with something that the 3 lines represent, it's too complicated, like an inside joke that most people don't get. I'd suggest coming up with something that makes just the B and the R more attractive if just using B and R is your goal.

^Well in the future I plan to. Anyway, I'll try and work on that whole BIIR thing.

I would at least make the II a little bigger than the other letters if you must keep them. Your tagline also seems a little generic, nothing really unique about it. I would take another stab at a few more ideas. Maybe turn the B around so it's backwards. Fool around with it some more.

you design from the concept, not create the concept from the design. i can see what you are tryin to do but its really not working so just take another shot. ou cant have ambiguity in a logo unless its intended.

and BIIdentity sounds like a sort of 'long tall sally' for cross dressers. dont force it.

did an interesting thing at work the other day. making a reel for ad company tbwa and as an excercize me and the girl im working on the project with created 20 of the most outrageous logos we could think of to go in their animation. (ill post an eg when im at work) but the upshot was, about 5 of them were actually decent. you should start with as many ideas as you can in this sort of situation.

okay so this is just a bit of an excercize in tracking etc and try to ignore my increadible mullet in the first couple of shots but this is the sort of variation and base you should start with when designing logos. the narrow down from there. when i get to work ill post the logos on white. this is all i have of them at the mo. (quicktime required)

I'll keep that in mind thanks. You guys probably won't see anything too soon because I've been a little busy in school and I just don't have the brain cells to do it after school.

PatSox... I like what you're trying to do here. I was a web developer for years, and now tackle design, so here's what I recently learned:

1) Don't design on your computer, sit down and think about a few concepts in your head, then sketch them down.

2) Design is about a concept and originality. BR Design is professional sounding, but is it really that interesting? I know a few people on here probably do the initial thing.

If I were you, I would try to come up with a funky quirky name that means something to you.

My company name is MediaProv. Why?

1) I'm in Providence

2) I wanted Media in the name or tagline so I could get more write offs.

3) It's a play on Improv

If I were you, I would choose a name like...

Satpox ... people will ask what it means, and you can tell them, I love the Pats and Sox, and I just switched the letters around.

People are paying designers to be creative, so it sometimes helps to have a creative name. So, look for something creative that describes what you are trying to do.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. It seems like really good advice. Unfortunately, I'm pretty busy so it might be about a week if not more before I'm ready to put out anything else.
