Edmonton Oilers RBKs not available for draft day

I'm disappointed. I was hoping all the teams would have their reveal at the draft. It makes me wonder if the other teams will decide to wait also because RBK won't be ready.

Per Dan Tencer of 630 CHED Radio:

"I'm told that the Oilers club would love to roll out the new jersey's in time for draft day. That probably won't happen, though, because RBK won't be able to provide inventory for public sale until later on in the summer. The team doesn't want to unveil the jersey's until they can be put in stores at the same time. Ergo, we'll probably have to wait until around training camp to see the new look."

I detect a little scam here. Could it be that some of the new designs are so hideous that Reeyuk is afraid to reveal them at draft time for fear of negative fan reaction. If they can stall until training camp then that wil be too late to change anything. This whole "redesign" project has the makings of one big mess. Just what we need- a cookie-cutter NHL.

I've found out some info about the Nashville Predators new Edge sweaters via the Preds' Message Boards:

So here is the low down on the new jerseys from a friend in the front office(the name remains undisclosed for the protection of the individual)

Home: White Jersey - If you paid close attention to the last remaining games some of the players had a tilted logo and some did not, the logo on the home jerseys next year are going to have the same logo tilted with nashville on the top of it, almost the same layout. My friend said the jerseys look really white.

Road: Blue Jersey - Almost the same as the road jerseys now except the sleeves are mostly silver, said the blue on the jerseys is a little different shade and looks pimptastic

I was disappointed because I was hopeing for a new logo but I still like the classic too...said the jerseys were in the office for about a couple weeks and then disappeared...so they may be going under another redesign? I was hopeing for nashville down one of the sleeves like the atlanta ones.

Mustard are offically dead for now...look for something new maybe in 2008-2009 season...

Ive heard a discription of the Panthers new duds, and a rumor of San Jose getting another color added to the set. Not really impressed by either to tell you the truth.

I beliebe that RBK has said before that, regardless of who unveils their EDGE jerseys when, they won't go on sale till September.

To my knowledge, the only team that said they are definately unveiling their EDGE jerseys in time for Draft Day is Washington. Vancouver said they are not revealing their's until August.

I imagine some other teams may unveil theirs on or before Draft Day, but even so, I wouldn't anticipate being able to buy the EDGE jerseys before September.

I don't know about any other teams but retailers around Detroit have said they'll be available on September 15. I'm not sure we had a specific date before.

Look at what happened last year...

Anaheim unveiled new set in June, took pre-orders galore, none available to buy till September, sold out through December.

Buffalo unveiled new set in September, has plenty to sell right off the bat, are only only able to have supply in stock.

I don't think RBK is going to have to worry.

Since the topic of the Caps has already been broached, may I point out that donjuangoaty27 should re-examine his sig? The Caps didn't even make the playoffs in 98-99. Perhaps you're thinking of 97-98 when they reached the Cup finals against Detroit.

If RBK forces the entire league to switch to a new uniform style, they better have the new sweaters ready to ship out in time for the draft that said jerseys will be unveiled. If you can't produce the uniforms in time, don't push the change (an unneeded change at that). It's as simple as that.
