Odd jersey choices

I saw someone at a 49ers game with a jersey that had "SHLONG" on the nameplate.

On a similar note, whenever I go to a Niners game with my dads best friend, theres this season ticket holder who sits in front of us who has a Niners home jersey with the number 40 and NINERS on the nameplate.

that'd make a helluva lot more sense if football jerseys placed the name below the number (I have yet in my life to see one that does this).

I do hate the wings more that I like any other team.

However, I think that anything on a jersey, other than a players name and number (Current or former player) is lame. (That includes nicknames and people getting their own name).

Funny story, kind of along the same lines as this thread. I went to a Blue Jackets/Canucks game in Columbus earlier this year and there were these three people in front of us all wearing sharks jerseys. One was a white Cheechoo, one was a teal Cheechoo, and the other was an old school teal Pat Falloon. I remember thinking the Falloon Jersey was odd because I thought that all Sharks fans hated him, But the funny part was that these three people somehow though the Jackets were going to play the sharks that night. The girl even brought a sign that said "I want to ride the Cheechoo train". I laughed my ass when one of the guys screamed "What the :censored:!" at the sight of the Canucks players taking their warmup.

Still though, Pat Falloon? Don't Sharks fans hate him. The jersey looked new too, not like an old jersey that they've had for years.

Not so much an odd jersey choice as an overconfident one...

I was a season ticket holder at Newcastle United in the 1995-96 season. Any soccer fans on here will remember that as the year Newcastle collapsed, and lost the league title to Manchester United after being 12 points clear in January.

Anyway, I used to sit behind a guy who had his shirt numbered "Champions 96". I doubt he got much use of it after that year.

In the random crowd shots they've done at Sabres games this year on any TV network, I've seen about a dozen instances of people wearing Buffaslug jerseys with STANLEY 07 on the back.

Aaron Johnson Columbus Blue Jackets authentic worn by this girl in her mid twenties. I could only guess that she either knew him growing up or was dating him because why else would you have his jersey.

Could have been a relative. When I was in Port Hawkesbury, NS for a weekend last month, I saw an Aaron Johnson third jersey hanging behind the counter at a convenience store. Of course, it just happened to the be the convenience store owned by his parents.

My opinion may or may not be the same as yours. The choice is up to you.

Or she won a jersey auction. Some people want a game-worn so bad, they don't care what name is on the back.

About 10 years back, when the Flyers first moved into their new digs (I omit the name in case they change sponsors for a 4th :censored:ing time...), there was a guy who had a customized sweater with a "10" on the left sleeve, and "88" on the back, and a "19" on the right sleeve, with "LEGION OF DOOM" across the nameplate. It may have been the genesis for those horrible cheesy eBay ripoff "authentics" with the 4 players' numbers and possibly-authentic autographs on them (I've seen ones for the 49ers, Cowboys and Steelers to name 3).

"Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

I've seen Charlestown Chiefs jerseys with a "16" on the left sleeve, "18" on the right, and "HANSON 17" on the back.

First off, they didn't wear nameplates. Secondly, pick one.

Then I'll fill in the name: CoreStates Center. :P

At the 48 second mark, a Coyotes fan is wearing a Koho authentic with CROSBY 87.

I remember when Lindros was first about to be traded from Philly ESPN showed a bunch of Leafs fans who had ordered LINDROSS 88 jerseys. Funny enough though, those turned out to be good a few years later

I've seen those too, that's how they come. It's not a custom job.

I can't see how somebody would spend $100+ on an authentic and put the mascots name on it. At the sabres viewing party monday there was a couple, one in a black-red Sabretooth, and one with a Slug Sabretooth. Complete with the Paw-Print #.

I've seen a Bears Matt Suhey #26 replica at a bar (it was a personalized replica and suprisingly, the name font was correct and not the crappy Champion-looking generic font), A Sox Danny Tartabull #45 jersey at a game, but the best was back in my high school days. I'll never forget it: One day in the cafeteria I actually saw a kid with a Ravens Stoney Case #10 jersey :D

I just wanted to ask him where the hell he got the thing

At the Molson Center in late 2001 I saw someone with a Habs "Lindros 88" jersey. WTF? Most of the people there booed Lindros during the game, I guess they were still bitter about the Nordiques thing.

Also, LAFFO at the wrong game people in Columbus. Did the Sharks play there the night before or something? Was it the right number day but wrong month? That is WEIRD.
