stevio321
Why can't this guy look for another sports team in general? We already have 6 Canadian hockey teams in this country, but Toronto is the only city that has other sports teams. I hate the people in this country sometimes when it comes to sports. Please leave these boards and never come back. You too chris creamer, you :censored:ing blow! And your site is full of hockey logos on the front page full of dumb facts no one cares about. I bet if you had more NFL, EPL etc stuff on your main site you'd get way more hits. But since it's full of hockey people outside of Canada probably look at it in confusion and look to sportencyclopedia. you!if you don't like this site leave oh right you just did 2008 and 2009 BACK 2 BACK Turner Cup Champions FORT WAYNE KOMETSIM BAAACK! gojetsgo
Lets forget about original6 (for good) and focus on the news.I can't see Balsillie keeping the team in Nashville past next season. It's hard to ignore the timing of this sale - just weeks before the team decides on whether to exercise an out-clause to move the team. This could be the first franchise to move in a decade. Where will they go? My guess is either Kansas City, Kitchener-Waterloo, or Hamilton. Although I wish it were so, I don't think Winnipeg is on Balsillie's radar. Although I wish it were so, I don't think Winnipeg is on Balsillie's radar.I would be very surprised if Balsillie keeps the team in Nashville -- I'd have to think Kansas City is the most realistic city to land this team, especially if they offer the same deal they did to the Penguins... they got an arena, they got a large market.I'm sure he'll look into Kitchener-Waterloo again but I cannot see the NHL approving a move to that area -- although it would be neat to see a new region added to the pro sports scene, especially one out here. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram
jkrdevil
If the reports I have read are correct his offer to buy the team was something like 90 million more than what the team was estimated to be worth last year. If that is the case it is clear that he is buying the team to move them. Especially considering how everything went down when he tried to buy the Pens. Neon_Matrix
I have a feeling he WILL move it but it is really anyones guess as to where he wants it to go. It could stay in Nashville, it could move to a very tempting Kansas City or virtually anywhere else in North America that already has a pro-sports team of some sort. I really dobut it will come up to Canada as the only realistic place that could have a team is Quebec city... Sodboy13
I believe Chris put it best a while back... "Original6 isn't the zestiest Dorito in the bag."What kind of idiot gives himself a screen name referencing hockey tradition and goes off on a tear that there's too much hockey on this site, and, of all things, too much hockey in Canada?Talk about your self-loathing dopes. Ez Street
Bald Silly may want to move them to Ontario.Does the NHL want that? Doubtful. Can't see KC as an option. Unless Bald Silly wants to sell a stake to "Boots" DelBaggio. "Boots" has the rights to putting an NHL team in the Sprint Center. This could explain AEG's sudden "Hard On" for the Seattle SuperSonics. They know the Preds aren't coming.NBA is and always was plan "B" for KC. @DavidStreeter

If the Sonics were available first, I think NBA would have been plan "A." I could be wrong, but that's the way it appears to me.
STL FANATIC
Oh crap.I'm not fan of the Preds, and a lot of their fans got on my nerves this past year (not really ones here though), but I'm a fan of the rivalry that's developed between my Blues and the Preds (and hopefully if as my Blues appear ready to take the turn towards playoff contention is/was going to get even more intense with both being good teams for the first time).Keep the Preds in Nashville. Here's hoping Nashville fans come out in large numbers next year to try and save their franchise. STL_Ian
I hate how businessmen decide to start a sports franchise & expect it to take off like they're Jack & it's the Beanstalk. I just don't think 8 seasons is enough time to say that Nashville can't support a team. If that's all it takes, the likes of Tampa wouldn't be enjoying their increased success (I know they won a Cup, but their attendance was already trending up before). Everyone wants a fast return on their investment, but I don't think sports franchises are the arena where that can be expected.I've been to Nashville a couple of times & if the insane number of Vols & Titans bumper stickers are any indication, they LOVE football down there. If the Preds could even harness a fraction of that fandom, they'd be set. Easier said than done though, I suppose. All that said, I hope like hell the team doesn't some how end up in Houston

-Helix-
Won't be surprised to see plans for a new Hamilton arena to be built. It's the return of the Hamilton Tigers. (Sorry, Jets fans, but Winnipeg isn't very likely. More money in Ontario. Hamilton is where he wanted to move the Pens anyway.)
illwauk
I'd just like to point out that the Preds AHL affiliate is in a perfectly good (and much more traditional) hockey market. And it's home to some of the best indoor ice facitilies in the US.Although I'd just as soon (and even rather) Marquette or UWM start a hockey program. The Badgers need an in-state rival to knock them off their high horse. That said, my money's on Kansas City. As much as I'd rather see them end up in Canada (if not here), KC's got a brand spankin' new arena that needs a tennant. Although you have to wonder if 5 teams (Royals, Cheifs, Wizards, Brigade and possibly the Preds) would be too much for them.

I also strongly believe Huston may be a real destination for a franchise... it already has a MLB, NBA and NFL team and parts of Texas like their hockey... so it could happen... jkrdevil
Let's look take a look at this. He paying an substantial amount over what the team was estimated to be worth. That makes it pretty clear that he plans on moving the team and to a specific place. Now look at areas he has connections to. Just because the guy is Canadian doesn't mean every Canadian city without a team is a candidate. Canada is a pretty big country. He is from Ontario, his company is located in Southern Ontario, and Hamilton/ Southern Ontario has been considered for a team before and has made it clear it wants a team. I think it's pretty clear that Hamilton/ Southern Ontario is the place he is targeting. Winnipeg and Quebec City just don't make sense. Why would he overpay for a team just to move them to city far away from where is base is when the area where his base is wanting a team?
