FiddySicks
It was just on ESPN. Mets vs Giants. Benitez has to be by far the worst closer in baseball, but considering the Giants history, it shouldn't come as a shock. KevinMcD
That was amazing, he walks Reyes, balks him to 2nd, he advances to 3rd on a groundout, and balks him home. He was so rattled he gave up the walk off to Delgado. What a game.
NJTank
Great game as a Mets fan I can sympathize with Giant fans on Armando Benitez, but I cant hide how much I love seeing him blow games against the Mets for once. He can beat the bad teams, but when the heat gets turned up in the playoffs, against rival teams, or in big games, or against good teams he chokes. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
tp49
I called into KNBR after the Giants got Benitez and they were all happy about the aquisition. I said he's a gas can, a head case and blows key saves. They didn't agree with me...wonder if they do now. The Giants relief corps in general is brutal to watch especially Steve Kline. On the surface, it seemed like a steal for the Giants, but while Shea didn't hesitate to leave to sign with the Angels at season's end, Accardo has earned the closer spot for the Jays while B.J. Ryan is gone.

philly97flyer
On a side note, is anyone else tired of seeing Jose Reyes jump around like a 5 year old every time the Mets win a game? ZitoCainMorrisLincecumLowry (If he can get some damn run support)May not sound like a whole lot right now, but give it a few years and teams are gonna dread playing San Francisco. jkrdevil
I personally think Benitez is one of the most exciting players in the game. You know what he is going to do but he keeps doing it in new and different ways. Granted he drives the fans of the teams to near suicide. He singlehandedly cost the Orioles and Mets chances at winning the World Series. I miss the days the when he would come in against the Yankees and blow a save that help turn the series around. Although I don't miss his 2 week stint with the Yankees in 2003 where he nearly sank the team because Torre rightly had 0 faith in him and had to bring Rivera in for 2 inning practically every game. But they do need some more offensive punch. And (as previously stated, and the point of the damn thread accually) something that resembles a bullpen rather than a bunch of girl scouts who lost their cookies. NJTank
Sweet the Mets have 10 more games against the Marlins, 6 of which are at Shea so we will have a chance to bash him again more Mando Meltdowns to help the Mets. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
