Your Name Here
I hope they go back to the Royal Blue, thats their classic uniform when they were good, plus I like it more then the dark blue.Well royal blue and orange is a difficult combination to pull off. In fact, I think that the Mets and Knicks have pretty well proved beyond a doubt that it can't be done. While we're on the Islanders, is there a logo anywhere in sports that demonstrates less creativity and invention than the Island? I mean, it's "NY," and the "Y" becomes a hockey stick, superimposed over Long Island, and just for good measure, it says "Islanders" on it. How in the hell has this logo stuck around for so long? Is it the four Cup titles?

Is it the four Cup titles?well the islanders did try to rebrand the team with the fisherman but the fans said no and demanded the original logo back. The reason fisherman didn't last a season and the long island logo continues to this day is the fact that most fans is that its the only logo outside of fisherman that the team has had granted darkened in colors and its associated with the time period when they were winning the cup. Fisherman failed because it supplanted the logo that was associated with winning during a time when they were going through a decade of losing. it basically comes down to the isles fans not wanting to let go of the long island logo. i personally like fisherman better, hense my av, but i'm in the VAST minority especially where i live. as much as i would like to have a fresh new logo like fisherman/lighthouse, i would rather the owners not mess with it mainly for the fact i don't the team to buffaslug the look. kinda like one of those better not wish for it, you might get it. meaning demand a change to the logo/unis and we might end up with a monstrocity like the buffaslug. hell we didn't even ask for a change and they are already going to roll out a monstrocity. Korkie
I hate the Mets with a burning passion, but damn if the look they wore on ESPN last night isn't one of my very favorites in the game. I love the all blue cap with orange NY. They prove the blue/orange combo can work well. In fact, it's one of the better logos in the league. When you get people who want to be "different" (read as: dumb) and say "We need something edgier, and implies speed and strength and determination"....We get The Buffaslug. We get The Fisherman. We get Orca Canuck. We get The Vick Falcon. We get ect., ect., ect...Leave good logos alone. CubsFanBudMan
I've always liked the lighthouse logo and would have like to see the Islanders keep it around, but I agree with JQK that not every older logo needs to be "fixed."That said, the modernization by drutka on the Isles primary was also good. It doesn't always have to be a complete overhaul.
tp49
I really want one of the retro jerseys that the Isles wore this year. I wouldn't mind it if that became the new jersey. I'd also love it if the Isles went back to royal blue and orange as they are the official colors of Nassau County where they play. Always did wonder if there was a tie in there (I believe there was). Sabrejeff
I might be able to accept these jerseys if they actually use orange socks this time.Although, NOT if they try and introduce orange pants and helmets to the NHL in addition...

Your Name Here
This is where we differ, I suppose. I loved the Isles' alternate. I thought it was outrageous and intense, for lack of a better description. And I'm not talking about making their logo edgier, I'm talking about using one's imagination. As for the Mets, they're one of those rare instances of a club that has never had a good uniform and compensated for it by never having a good logo; like the Nets, Knicks, Canucks, &c. In fact, I think that the Mets and Knicks have pretty well proved beyond a doubt that it can't be done.Royal blue and orange can be a little tough, but dark blue and orange is one of the best combinations ever. If you use royal, I think you pretty much have to keep the orange to a minimum and balance everything out with some white or black.
3wide.com
In reference to the logo discussion, I never minded the Isles Fisherman logo, and was a fan of the uniforms that went with the Fisherman logo.I'm also a big fan of the lighthouse logo, and it would have went great if they had gone through with building the 'lighthouse' on the complex during the renovation

Complimentary colors should be fairly easy to pair up so long as you get the hues and intensities of the colors right creating a nice balance, which is what Hectibro is getting at.Anyone that thinks the Knicks and/or Mets colors don't "work" need to go back to Color Theory class because they work extremely well....now if we can get rid of that ridiculous black trim then we've got something!
