1. What is netball?

2. Are they really wearing skirts to play?

3. How popular is it? Looks like at least a national league...

4. What do the letters on the uniforms mean? The big ones where normally there are numbers. Are they positions?

They posted a pic in the Seattle newspaper today and I was just curious...

1. Basketball without backboards. And more rules. And played exclusively by women.

2. Yes.

3. Very popular in Australia, I'm not sure about anywhere else.

4. Positions -- each position is only allowed to be on a certain position on the court.

So it's like women's lacrosse, but less fun and exciting

And for the record I like women's lax (well the high school team at least, and from there I was the scorekeeper for the varsity team's home games), but there's too many god damn rules in it and it can get so confusing to know em all. Not to mention the flow of the game's killed so many times

I'll expand, being an Aussie and all.

1. What Brian said, no dribbling, you catch it then you pass it, have to shoot from inside the D

2. When guys play it, they wear shorts.

3. Australia as Brian said, but also England, New Zealand, Jamaica, Fiji, possibly South Africa. Next year the AUS and NZL national leagues will cease and they'll play a Trans-Tasman League.

4. GK- Goalkeeper, GD- Goaldefense, WD - Wing defense, C- Centre, WA- Wingattack, GA- Goalattack, GS- Goal shooter. It basically shows where players are allowed to go, only GA,GS,GK,GD are allowed in the D's. C can go anywhere but the D's, WA, GA, WD, GD can only go to the second third, (depending on which way they lineup).

Hope that helps.
