New mascot named...

It should have been Steel E. McBeam, also I still don't know why they just didnt bring the Terrible Fan back.

That wasn't an official team mascot. It was a guy that asked the team and Cope if he could do that in the stands. Thats why The Terrible Fan was never on the field. I seem to recall the Steelers also having a mascot in the early to mid 90s. It was an I-beam with red eyes. It probably lasted about 3 games... maybe.

That was Stevie Steeler which was also the name of the NFL Huddle mascot from the 80's. The Steelers should buy one of the Pierogi suits from the Pirates and use that, just throw a Steelers hat on it.

Off topic:

The Pirates really should get the guy who used to announce the pierogi races back. He had a real Pittsburgh accent. These bums they have doing it now just sound like....jagoffs (hehe... pittsburghese), and make the race actually quite annoying rather than one of the only entertaining things at PNC Park.

No, it wasn't Stevie Steeler, I remember him clearly. This I-beam character is a little more hazy, but I recall seeing him on the sidelines at the home opener in, I believe, '94 against the Cowboys. I was only 12 so my memory might be a little off. I'm going to try to search for some visual evidence.

The I-Beam guy was called Stevie Steeler, NFL Films did a show on mascots and Kevin Greene called it Stevie Steeler.

Does Steely McBeam do porn on the side? This is by far one of the lamest mascots ever, and the steelers should be ashamed.

Granted, "Staley Da Bear" is pretty damn lame as well.

OK, I now I see. I always knew that the NFL Huddle character was named Stevie Steeler, I didn't realize that the I-beam mascot also had the same name. Totally different, same name. Heres a pic of the beam. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/08/08/...s-a-dopey-name/
