Based on the crest alone, MLS needs to bring this team into the league, plus you would have an instant rivalry between the Wizards/St. Louis and Fire/St.Louis.

They look like they have a good plan in Collinsville but I don't think people in St. Louis will not want to travel through E. St. Louis, IL to get there. I wish they could put the SSS in the St. Louis proper like Toronto FCs' SSS. We'll have to wait and see, but this is a very exciting prospect for the St. Louis group.

nicely done crest, I dig the fleur de lis in there at the bottom.

the Northwest has two of the best-supported USL teams, Seattle or Portland needs a team before another in the midwest, yadda yadda usual homer-ness.

The MECCA of soccer in the US for about 80 years. We owe everything to St Louis for keeping the sport alive. I cant think of a more deserving city to get an MLS team.

I hate to say it (because of so many STL riders here,) but its a great sports town.

It's only 10 miles from downtown St. Louis and it's all interstate highway. It's no different than going through North St. Louis to get downtown on I-70.

Besides, they sure don't seem to have a problem with going to the Casino which is actually in E. St. Louis.

Don't like the name, St Louis United is much better

I guess they don't want to completely rip off DC United.

Then we'd have a CFL on our hands....y'know, where every OTHER football team is called the Roughriders.

I think F.C. United St. Louis or United St. Louis would have been classier.

Agreed. Nice crest, but the name is terrible.

Yeah, DC should have "United" to itself in MLS, what with being pretty much the only original team to go for the European football name thing that is now de rigeur.

What half-assed ripoff names has MLS not used yet? "Boca St. Louis"? "St. Louis Arsenal"? On a non-sarcastic note, what about S.C. St. Louis? Or, inspired by my own favorite Scottish club, St. Louis Gallatian? (That's "Gallatian" as in bastardized Latin for "French," not the biblical "Galatian" meaning "from central Turkey".) St. Louis American S.C. is another candidate from the almost-named-after-established-foreign-club list.

But agreed on the sweet, sweet crest. I sure hope MLS is able to support an aggressive round of expansion to get some cities like St. Louis, maybe Portland or Seattle, and Minneapolis into the mix. Speaking of Minneapolis, what kinds of names to Scandinavian football clubs have that a Minnesota team could steal be inspired by?

Bayern Minneapolis: LOL!

And Ajax is a good beginning. There already is an Ajax America club in Orlando. Since the Amsterdam club's name comes from the Greek hero, early Dutch clubs having sort of a thing for Greek names, maybe Minnesota should turn to local mythology for a name. Bunyan F.C.? Blue Ox Minnesota? Tatanka M.S.C.? (I actually kind of like these!)

Getting back to Scandinavia, there's a Norwegian club named "Start". Start Soccer Club of Minnesota?

Huh? Illinoisians have no problem driving through East St. Louis to go to Cardinal and Rams games, which half the fans are from the Metro East.

East St. Louis isn't great, but the rumors and mystic of it are much worse than its reality.
