BUFFALO BILLS

The slug sucks, but don't hate on Sabretooth!

I actually remember reading somewhere, Sabretooth was actually the idea of the late NHL HOF and Canadian Donut Chain mogul, Tim Horton, which I always thought was kinda cool.

As for Billy Buffalo, he's a more recent addition. He wasn't around until after the Super Bowl era. To me, he's just a cheap ripoff of Buster Bison, who's probably one of the best mascots in Triple-A.

Anyway, I love the Bills throwbacks. I wish they'd either have those or the Super Bowl-era unis full time. The current ones just look terrible.

I wasn't hating on Sabretooth...he just looked so much better in the classic jersey...

No idea how long Sabretooth has been around, but he bothers me because Nashville's logo is of a sabretooth tiger. The Sabres may have the original claim to them, so I'm not yelling at them, but I'm just saying it's weird to me. Especially with them sharing colors (though I guess that wasn't always the case).

Of course, I think even if Sabretooth has been around awhile he still bothers me. If the Sabres insist on the use a buffalo not just in their logo, but as their logo...well, it really oughta be their mascot too.

"Sluggo the Buffalo" might be the most uninspiring mascots of all time. The kids certainly wouldn't like him.

Sabretooth debuted in 1988, so he predates the Preds by at least 10 years. The Sabres wore blue & gold for 26 seasons before going to black & red prior to the Preds existence.

Also, a number of teams have mascots that don't match the team name or city.

Specifically: Toronto (a bear), Calgary (a dog), Islanders ( a dragon), Hurricanes (a pig), Tampa and Columbus (bugs), Ottawa (a lion) and probably one or two more.
