Are you going to a college football game Saturday?

Nothing major. I tried to get tickets to the Tennessee Cal game so I can root for my Vols firsthand, but wasn't able to. So instead me and some friends are gonna go to my college's home opener. Should be good, Sierra College is ranked #2 in the nation for Junior Colleges and Shasta College is pretty good. Should be a decent game.

I'm immature:

Haha thats what shasta looked like yesterday. A bunch of empty soda cans they got crushed so hard. It was 50-0 Sierra three minutes into the third quarter and the temps in the stadium peaked at 118 so I left.

My lovely wife is an Oklahoma alum and is accompanying me to the Sooners' homecoming game vs. Missouri next month. It'll be my first time at a major college game and I can't wait.

Well, except the Sugar Bowl one year but of course that wasn't a home game for either LSU or Nebraska.

I spent yesterday recovering from the day of tailgating and the Clemson / FSU game on Monday night. I didn't know where my seats were going to be, but when I found out, I was pissed that I forgot my camera. 8th row / 35 yd. line behind the 'Noles bench. Stayed for the first half only, which was the most dominating defensive performance I've ever seen in a Clemson team. The crowd was louder than ever and the atmosphere was just fantastic.

God bless college football!

This Saturday it's Notre Dame in to hopefully lose to us...and since PSU seating is first come first served for students (Tickets aren't...seating is) I hope to get there early enough to have good seats...

.....and it's a white out--so we got that as well

You going to the UB game in two weeks? You'll be in for a show then.

I didn't go to our first game here at the 'House, because most people were talking about it was going to be bad game, and we'd lose. Well, they got the bad game right, but we actually won a game for a change. :D

The second game was much more fun. We're playing Fort Valley State, and the score is 15-13 Morehouse with about 2 minutes left. We go 3 and out on a critical possession, and have to punt. Too bad our ST decided to cave in, as the punt was blocked by Fort Valley's entire interior line, and recovered at the 24 yard line, or somewhere around that area. Either way, we hold them to 3 and out, but in what has to be the luckiest football moment ever, their horrible kicker, who was missing extra points and chip shots from like the 5 yard line, HITS A 42 YARD FG to win the game. Then hilarity ensued. Fort Valley's lead male cheerleader decides that he wants to taunt the Morehouse fans, so he runs over to our side with a flag and starts waving it. But our mascot, the Maroon Tiger, wasn't having it, so he grabs the flag out of the cheerleader's hands. The cheerleader snatches it back and smacks him with the flag. Then the mascot removed his tiger-head, and the fight was on. Surprisingly, we got a letter from the President of the school COMMENDING the football team and the fans for a job well done. I guess throughout the entire scrum, we didn't realize how "civilized" a scrum it was.

So yeah, add to the fact that the band is playing 24/7 and there you have your typical HBCU football game. :D

And hedley, what's the ticket demand for a UGA game? I think I might go to one this year, if there are tickets open.

It's pretty difficult to get tickets.

I'm selling my UGA-South Carolina ticket since I have something else to attend this Saturday afternoon, and also looking to sell-trade my UGA-Auburn ticket. The only catch is, you need a UGA ID to get in with the ticket....

Nothing last Sat., but this Sat., I'll be back to my roll as the PA announcer for Bemidji (MN) State University (Div. II) football vs. Minot (ND) State University (NAIA) in the Beaver Bash...

Moose

I once dated a woman who played basketball for the Minot State Beavers. I did ask her about the nickname and how it can be construed for a female team. She said she didn't like the nickname at all, but it wasn't worth leaving the college. She also said the team endured some taunts from rivals, which is no surprise.

Ward, weren't you a little rough on the Beaver last night?

Who all is going to see a college football game on Saturday? And if so, who are you going to see?

I'm going to see my alma mater dear, Moorhead State -- excuse me, it's now called Minnesota State University Moorhead (yuck) -- play the crosstown rival, Concordia of Moorhead. It's also a family duel, as I went to Moorhead State and my sisters went to Concordia.

What was the point of changing Moorhead's (and Mankato's) names? I thought maybe it a situation where both schools had the same idea at the same time because why would they give up a unique name for a hyphenated one?

I'm hoping to get to at least one game at Camp Randall or the Bunyan Ax game at the Metrodome (since my cousin lives in Minneapolis now).

And of course, I'm going through my annual withdrawl from the fact that Milwaukee doesn't have so much as a D3 team that I could go see.

I'm going to the L-R v. ASU game this weekend. It's the first pre-game sellout in Appalachian football history so I'm thinking it's gonna be nuts.

Bills, does a kid named Brendan Flanagan get any playing time for UB? He's from around where I'm from, so I'm curious as to if he ever plays.

And I'm going to the BC-NC State game this saturday, blowing off some cookout with these kids from my school. [offtopic] This'll be the second time i blow them off for a sporting event. First was when i wanted to watch a hockey game on tv. The Caps were on, and at that point, I'd never seen Ovechkin actually play, only had seen highlights and i wanted to see him play. [/offtopic]
