Setanta Sports Free Preview

Anyone else been watching the Setanta Sports free preview period?

I've become addicted to rugby over the past several weeks, and last night I saw a sport which I kinda knew existed but had never seen live - Hurling - that's absolutely balls to the wall. The concept of 20 guys on a field, armed with clubs, trying to hit essentially a baseball to one another (note I never mentioned gloves to catch it with), then hit it - on the run - with aim sufficient to put it either into or above the crossbar of a soccer goal... just trips me out a little.

I liked it so much, I'm shelling out for it even after the preview's over. It helps that a friend offered to pitch in so he could come over and watch Newcastle United games, but still ...

You need ITVN then!

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

That's only on satellite providers, eh? :lonely:

What do you mean? I've got rogers Digital Cable and I have the preview running.

Digital Cable and Satellite are basically the same thing. Setanta isn't available on normal cable.

Okay I see.

It's on digital cable, too? Hmm, time to go searching the guide!

Yeah, I've considered the ITVN route, but I'll have to upgrade our internet connection first. We have DSL, but it's not always the most robust.

Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop!

Two-part question for ya, Glenn:

Who's your provider, and how much did it set you back?

I've got ExpressVu in these parts and I was curious if this would be one of those stand-alone channels or a special (read: expensive) package like Centre Ice or Sunday Ticket.

You should try playing it sometime, Mac ;)

It's too bad Time Warner Cable wasn't running a Setanta North America free preview this past weekend, I soooo want TWC to pick up the network (or for AT&T cable to become available in my part of Milwaukee County)...

I've got Shaw digital cable. It's $14.95 a month (yeah, I know ... ouch. Like I said, I probably wouldn't do it unless a friend was going halfsies) and it's not really part of any package. As far as I can tell, it's just the one channel.

I was trying to describe hurling to my brother once. The best I could do was "a combination of lacrosse, baseball and an egg-and-spoon race."
