Wow it just sunk in that there is a good chance that one of these following teams will make it to the finals :Rangers, Flyers, Penguins

as a Devils' fan, this hurts

I seriously hope the Habs win. It would be terrible in the Rangers beat the Penguins. I hope I don't see them in the third round as the Rangers' bandwagoners at my school would go crazy ('94! Matteau Matteau! Brodeur Sucks! Lundqvist is the best goalie ever! I love Sean Avery). Here's to everyone in the West and Montreal!

Joffrey Lupul scores in OT to send the Flyers on to face the Habs! (And the Pens to meet the Rangers.)

Overheard during the postgame: The Caps' PA guy telling the fans, "We will be back next year... see you then." What, was the team in danger of moving or going under or something?

This means something to the fans who had to wait five years between playoff births. They're saying that the caps will be back and better next season.

By the way those refs were complete pices of sh***. not just the secound philly goal, but they missed so many philly penalties it was disgusting.

I agree the second Flyers goal was bull :censored:. That was goalie interference at worst. At best it should have just been waived off as incidental contact since the Philly player basically shoved the Caps defender into Huet.

As for the OT penalty I didn't like that call. After letting pretty much everything go in the third period and in OT up until that point it was a weak call to make. There needed to be better consistency.

It was a great game and series for the teams. For the refs not so much there were plenty of WTFs call and just inconstancy throughout the series going both ways. Then again over all officiating has been just awful these playoffs. That's what happens when you try to get them to call an impossible standard combined with the fact the officials work force is either too inexperienced to be in these games or just too old and should be retired. There doesn't seem to be many NHL officials that are in the "prime" of their officiating careers.

Could someone excuse me while I jump off a bridge. (retroactive to last night)

:censored: the Habs. They can go to hell.

As I advanced earlier, your wrath is more profitably directed at one Bill Simmons, who karmically ensured the postseason demise of yet another Boston team with an over the top rah rah column yesterday. :P

What will Montreal do if they win this coming series?

Heck...would there be a Montreal if they win the Stanley Cup?

Thank God.

Now, for at least the rest of these playoffs, we don't have to hear any more about how wild and crazy that "C of Red" is in the Saddledome, and how the Flames are such a gritty hard working team and how they are everyone's sympathetic underdog that they want to go all the way.

NO. MORE.

Granted, it was only a first round win. I am looking forward to rekindling the heated rivalry with Dallas.

So for round two, we've got:

Habs/Fly Guys

Pens/Rangers

Wings/Avs

Sharks/Stars

Solid matchups....I can't wait to parade around the Philly area in my Koivu jersey :D

I will say this, if the sharks get eliminated by either Dallas, Detroit or Colorado then said teams will lose in the stanley cup finals to either Montreal, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh or the Rags. No team has eliminated the sharks and have gone on to win the cup.

And with that, San Jose's going to the finals...

Best matchup of round 2: Colorado vs. Detroit

That's going to be an insane series I think.

Prediction for round 3:

Canadiens vs. Rangers - great original 6 matchup

Avalanche vs. Sharks - Sharks are going to pound the Avs.

All I have to say is PHEW!!!!! Both the Flyers and Sharks moved on to the second round, that doesn't happen in hockey for me too often. That series agains't the Stars series is gonna be a barn burner, but I think the Sharks will be OK. And for some reason I feel that Philly can overtake the Habs, especially considering Montreal hasn't played their best lately. And I think the Pens and Rangers are gonna beat the crap outta each other, so if I'm lucky we might get to see what the finals should've been in 04.

Surprised how nobody posted anything about the f'd up riot that occured right after the game.

(sorry about the french)

It makes all Habs fans look bad and as one myself, I think it would be better without all of this unnessesary violence. I was not down town when this happenned, I was at home watching the game. What I hope everybody can see here is that most acts of violence are NOT caused by the fans who Just left the Bell Center. Sure most of the people were honking their cars, waving their flags and screaming in the streets, but no damage to any propreties. Some losers just take this as an oppurtunity to do idiotic acts and perhaps they don't even like hockey. That's how I see it. I hear alot of crap like stupid Montrealers and stuff, and it's sad that even I might be considered a criminal, when all I wanted to do was have a good time.

This is only the first round, Imagine what will happen if they keep winning rounds?? It's like, nearby shop owners of downtown Montreal basically have to hope the Canadiens lose because if they don't, they might find an unpleasant surprise the next morning when they arrive at work.

Hats off to the Caps, though. I have a ticket to Game 1 on Friday at Mellon Arena, and I was really hoping to see the first Malkin/Ovechkin playoff showdown. Of course the hockey gods decided it was too good to be true.

The Philly goal in the second period was ridiculous, but the OT tripping call was warranted. It was the second blatant trip in OT - they had to call it.

I'm in a playoff pool -- $20 to enter, you get one team from each conference drawn at random. Besides the bastard that drew Penguins/Red Wings, I'm the only one who had both of his teams (Sharks, Rangers) advance.

"We're happy for ya!"
