I've just never understood the idea of attacking a fanbase for being small. There are die-hards and fair-weathers in every city. Sure, the attendance isn't as consistent in Carolina as it is in Toronto, but so what? Taking a dig at a team (or a fan of a team) because their city isn't as passionate about the sport is just an easy and thoughtless attack, and silly. It's almost never used as a rational argument, and just serves as a way to start a fight.

Anyway philly97, I have no doubt you're as knowledgeable and passionate about hockey as the next guy. I'm just saying you could set a better example as to how you think Philly fans should be perceived by using a little tact. Whether or not you think it's right, your comments about Caps fans not giving a damn until a month ago is only validating the opinion of so many that sports fans from Philadelphia are jerks. I know they're not, but you're right - it is a perception, and if you want to change it the best way would probably be to admit that the Caps gave the Flyers one hell of a fight, maybe mention that it's really great to see that Alex Ovechkin has single-handedly invigorated a once dwindling and uninterested fanbase, and move on.

And if I attributed to the comment to the wrong person, I'm sorry, but someone on here said they thought it was funny that no one could beat the Flyers without help from the refs. I'm not going back to check, but that's probably one of the silliest things I've read in this thread since the playoffs started.

MOVING ON

Now that I've had time to breathe and let the events of last night's game sink in, I'm certain the Pens/Rags series is going to at least six games. It's got the makings of a classic. Two extremely talented teams with very different personalities. I haven't caught any of the other games yet.

Hey, now I dont live in DC. I have my information based on asses in the seats (on tv). I have the Center Ice Package, and I happened to watch ALOT of Caps games over the course of the year because I think Ovechkin (as a hockey fan, mind you) is unbelievably FUN to watch. I understand there some people who, yes, are diehards, and just cant afford to make it out to every game, or to buy season tickets. But, again, do realize, that those type of people DO exist in every city/market. Look man, I dont want to offend you, or any real Caps fan. The original idea behind this was just to send the message to people from any city, that this stuff goes on everywhere, not just in one place. I happened to have a great time watching the 1st round series between our teams (albeit stressful). Your team is very exciting, and got alot of experience as a young group. Theyll be a force in the East for years to come for sure. And for those that always stuck by them, kudos. From one diehard to another, itll get better.

I'm pretty dissapointed to see that no one is talking about the Red Wings absolutely dismantling Jose Theodore and the Colorado Avalanche after many people picked the Avs to win this series...

Oh, and Johan Franzen is a BEAST.

It's probably because I had a Franzen avatar up on here for about an hour or so Friday. Perhaps I'm good luck....or maybe the Mule's just unstoppable. Regardless, I think a #93 jersey might have to be purchased at some point.

it was an awesome series. these are 2 of the more exciting teams in the East. (thats setting aside my own opinions on Daniel Briere) itll definitely get better for this team, the fans who were grabbed by the run to the playoffs are going to stay because this is a special group of players that assemble the core of this team. thanks for the nice words. this shows that philly fans and DC fans can co-exist in a peaceful manner. :D

Carbonneau needs to realize that if you sit Patrice Brisebois, you'll lose the game. I like O'Byrne but in the play-offs you need to play Brisebois.

This message was brought to you by the head of the Patrice Brisebois fanclub ^_^

Well, when he is not playing there is less of a chance of him scoring on his own net. ^_^

Down they go, the Sharks underachieving in this postseason has been stunning, they should win it all and yet they wont see the Conference Finals in all likelihood now.

I know how it feels. It's a shame they're playing so poorly I really like their team.

No way you can count the Sharks out yet. Certainly the Stars have the personnel to finish the job, but 2-0 isn't insurmountable for SJ.

Neither is it for the Rangers.

Totally whipping out my Steve Downie jersey next time I'm home!! :D

There are a few Habs fans I need to strut around in front of wearing it.

Carey Price played like crap the last 2 games. The tables could have turned if he had been benched tonight. That's what displeases me the most, they needed to play Halak!!!!!!!

I bet you weren't saying that at the beginning of today's game. Probably thought he would play great, like he did after the game 6 loss to Boston.

Knowing my luck he'll bounce back.

Hi, how are you?
