powersurge
Don't forget the Phoenix Suns.Good call.Anytime you pair purple with orange you get a can't lose combo. I like how they've successfully incorporated grey into their uniforms to break up the purple/orange visual tango.

TruColor
What about Real Salt Lake? I realize they call it blue, but it looks more purplish to me.Good eye. For 2005, they used a color that was closer to Purple than Blue - and still called it "Cobalt Blue", but then changed the next season to a more bluish color:2005 season:Current season:NOTE: The "Cobalt Blue" from the 2005 season is exactly the same as Los Angeles Kings Purple. thedinj
The Bucks very nearly kept the purple. This was mistakenly up at their nba.com store for a while:I'm pretty sure that was just a PhotoShop error by whoever did the online store mockups. I've never heard any reliable sources (or even rumors, for that matter) that the Bucks intended to keep the color scheme in their recent overhaul.I have a pretty reliable source that tells me Larry Harris was planning on keeping the purple. Discogod
Little-known fact: both versions of the Charlotte Hornets' uniforms were (primarily) trimmed in ROYAL BLUE...not Purple. All of the lettering and numbers were trimmed in Blue:Just pulled out a couple of my Hornets game jerseys... Indeed, the road ('96 - '97 Dell Curry) is trimmed in blue. But my '96-'97 home Glen Rice jersey definately has purple trim - it's a distinct difference between jerseys. If my scanner wasn't busted I'd post a pic. These are Champion game-issue jerseys, not replicas. Don't get me started on the innacuracy of the replicas of that era... Max Power
As with any color nowadays, purple gets mixed in with black too often. And I think it works even less with it, IMO. Look like Fitzgerald fixed the black creep that was happening at Northwestern, even though he wore it himself as a player. As a Northwestern fan I'm certainly a fan of purple; relatively few teams use it as a primary so it's kind of unique and it can look great in the right scheme. I thought NU's purple and black uniforms from the 90's were nice, but dropping black and going back to white definitely makes the purple pop more. It took a couple of years to get the right shade of purple- it was very blue-ish around 2003/04- but now they have a very nice look. It also helped when they went from all purple at home to purple jersey/white pants. The all purple look was a bit overpowering in a bad way. Fitz added alternate black pants, but it's not a very good look- and NU is 0-2 in them- so I hope they drop them or use them very sparingly. I would suggest they add silver/grey as an accent color, which they used pre-90's.
LogoFan
Purple needs to be used more. There are just too many teams that replicate oneanothers's color schemes. Designing logos myself, I do realize that the style of the logo and the way/amount it's used can make or break this color. Here are 2 examples of what I think worked/works well:andIt's all in how it's put together. Example: I like purple & red combos if done right. Raptors good, Firecats not so good. Purple & orange: Clemson good, Pirates good (with silver) and Frankfurt Galxy best.In an effort to come up with a bigger variety of color combos and unique looks, purple is a good go-to. Purple looks good with teal, a med blue and the afore-mentioned red & orange.IMHO, I think more pro teams need to use maroon. the NFL is totally devoid of the color...someone will use it one day and own the color. Mac the Knife
Sorry for the blatant USFL.INFO plug, but the Pittsburgh Maulers' color scheme worked pretty well for their uniforms and ancillary materials. BaltimoreFan
I don't mind purple too much. It looks really good matched with grey and yellow (probably because yellow is purples complementary color). Purple and black looks decent too. But I may be partial since I'm a Ravens fan. Although I do think the Rockies have some of the nicer homes and aways in baseball. The alternate isn't that great, and I have a purple alt in my head that would look really nice if they used it. ZoomZoom18
The Ice used this logo from 94-96 and the jersey style up until 99. I may be a little biased here, but I always liked it and thought it looked good. The alternate they unveiled in 95-96 with the purple and black reversed was a little TOO much purple for me.
